Coen Brothers: No Country for Old Men

Hmm. Is there a reason why the Ritzy no longer appears on the PictureHouse website?

Yeah. I just presumed the Ritzy didn;t have a website.
Doesn't seem to be showing at Cla-am according to that site.

However it is a film about fate and chance and is very simlair to Fargo and Blood Simple.

Oo!

Now I'm trying to figure out how we can get an evening off from the little 'un to get to see this without having to wait for the DVD...

No Country for Old Men

Coen brothers, apparently back at their best.

If it's anything as good as Fargo...........

Whooooooooah I can't wait to see this.

No Country For Old Men

Saw this at the Ritzy preview last Saturday night...

If you like Coen Bros films, see it.

If you like crime thrillers, see it.

If you like genuinely scary bad guys, see it.

If you like Tommy Lee Jones doing world weary, see it.

In fact, see it...

Really want to see this, love Javier Bardem, and just finished the book. Think I'll have to wait til next week though - maybe Wednesday :)

genius film saw it on monday... along with before the devil knows you are dead which isn't anywhere near as good a film...

The story is pretty different from Zodiac, but where it's similar is the note-perfect recreation of the 70s film vibe.
Please tell me it's better than Zodiac though?

Going to see it tonight with Dub.

REALLY excited as I'm finishing the book on the train on the way there and he's my favourite author and the total fucking hash they made of All the Pretty Horses made my heart cry. This one sounds like a much better adaptation. I hope it's as violent as the book...

I've not seen it yet, but I thought it was well received?
It was ok... not great imo.

I've read somewhere that it's pretty true to the book PieEye - and the few clips I've seen are word-for-word.

cheg stole it of internets the other day. excellent film, lots going on. i think i will watch it again as there are many layers to it! :)

well he writes some of the best dialogue ever so I'm glad they're using it.

NCFOM is a very rare thing these days - a film for grown-ups.

Discuss.

Plenty of films for grown-ups around, they just aren't hyped in the way Hollywood blockbusters are.

It looks beautiful, and there are great performances, especially from Javier Bardem, who I'd never seen before. What a face that man has - you just can't take your eyes off him. I found the ending annoyingly inconclusive though. No doubt I missed something...

Did he kill her or not? it is a film about fate and control.

Christ, that was some film! And the last film I saw was American Gangster. Think I'm going to do a Disney one next.

The Coen Bros know how to do a really chilling bad guy and this one... well during the motel scene you could hardly watch the screen. Aaarrgghh!

Not really sure if Woody Harrelson was well cast and his character was a bit half-baked. And there seemed to be a definite lack of armed police around considering what was going on. But hey who cares.

Thank fuck the cats all made it!

he examined his boots as he came out

Best film of 2007 for me, 9/10. I thought Woody was quite good myself.

which marks a change in him as he used to take them off, plus he gave that kid money for his shirt

I have seen NCFOM twice now and I could watch it again.

Enjoyed it very much. Could never be a proper film of the book so it had some tough choices to make but it was excellent. TLJ was wonderful as ever, the whole cast was brilliant.

SO who spotted who his uncle was played by?
