come in mister brent
I've managed to avoid hearing this but couldn't resist as you have posted it. My ears are bleading!!!
I didn't think I could hate him more
I Roy's Version.
to be fair this is a character piece (david brent the boss from the office) and was a comic relief special i think? it makes sense within the logic of The Office
what's to hate about it? it's just a couple of guys mucking around. granted, not the greatest piece of music, but it's hardly a crime....
just take it for what it is, a bit of silliness....
Thing is I have a lot of their albums and have seen them three times. I think Daryl Hall is up there with some of the best singers ever.
That version of Soldering is the one track they did that makes my teeth grate. Sorry.
i find it a bit...predatory slack lyrics are a bit sus at the best of times...
This is my favourite Cod Reggae number. Carly Simon - Why - A Balearic classic
Ok, how about Celine Dion doing, er, Cod Ragga, I suppose:
This is not Cod! This is a great track.
Although being Serge, he did all he could not be make it cod...
agree with you, even though there are plenty of great cod tracks too.
i never thought serge was cod. sly and robbie are on it after all.
cod does not equal bad, and reggae does not equal good. they are not the criteria!
that's right. cod: a reggae track by a band usually not influenced by reggae. reggae: a track by a reggae band.
that celia dion track is great btw, orang utan. a perfect example.
i agree - the poster was trying to recall the name of it, i was just posting it to help them - innocent of all charges!!
i like it a lot btw. reggae suits him really well. go serge!
ps: this is great as well:
ah yes, this is the one i was thinking of earlier in the thread - i remember the 2003 remixes mentioned in Rutita's post - some nice tracks from that pack as well.
Sinead O'Connor did a similar thing, btw - she suddenly went all reggae and recorded a reggae album with an all-jamaican all star band (and Sly and Robbie).
'cos it's Rebel music innit!
Those crazy laidback Dutch:
it's a lovely song, mind
I was sad to hear that their saxophonist Greg Ham committed suicide over the Down Under/Kookaburra plagiarism court case.
would this be considered cod or a change of musical direction?
thought there might be a few cod covers of classics lurking on this series think i remember my sisters mates dancing to a version of skinhead moonstop/double barrel off one of these...ah the seventies, how i miss thee
