cockroaches

God i hated it when we had them in our flat in stockwell, ok about the mouse because he was mental and amused me when he would come tearing out of the kitchen like the devil himself was after him. But the roaches were the thing i couldnt live with, would be making lunch turn to get the mayo out of fridge fucking roach on the bread board, i threw so many bread boards away. Kill them Keithy, kill them anyway you can chicken, but certainly dont put up with them.

god i am itching just thinking about it.

Horrible Things. Get environmental health round and they'll spray your place for you and try and guess where they are coming in and block the holes.

I had them in an old flat in Mile End, according to the council the whole street was infested. I woke up one night to find a big one had crawled up onto my face  I chucked the bugger out of my bedroom window onto the road and had a very long shower

The guys from the council seemed to get rid of them, but I'm so glad I don't live there any more

They get to a couple of inches in size out here and are all over the sodding shant.
You have to watch the buggers as they get everywhere.
Last week the washing machine fucked up. The swine has come in up the drain pipe and shit all over the controls naffing the job up.

welllllll last night I killed my first cockroach. We got drunk and then went in the kitchen to see how many were there... the answer was none then this cocky little fuck ran out from under the washing machine and i blitzed it's ass. We're going to pull the fridge and washing machine out and bleach it and spray it all to fuck. then die because we're inhaling so much Raid.

well done yep just keep killing them, its all you can do. On the plus side you will get high from the solvents in your raid :)

Just going to add, I can't believe how many people I know at work who live round here are just living with mice and roaches and getting used to it cos can't get rid of them. Is this what London is like? If I move out am I likely to end up with the same problem anyway? Is it just certain areas?

it's not all of london. none of the many houses i lived in had any

and some of the houses were real shit holes

Yep it definitely isn't all of London. I've lived in 8 different places in London and I've only ever had cockroaches in one.

The council told me that the road in Mile End had a 'roach problem due to a high concentration of takeaways.

please stop saying about them getting in your beds and on your face and stuff, I'm trying to be brave here :(

Sorry, that was very insensitive of me.

i lived in some utterly shit shithole of a studio in clapton a couple of years back- because it was so tiny my bed was literally right next to the fridge and cooker so i would repeatedly wake up to them staring at me....

luckily i moved the fuck out of there but liberal sprayings of raid and a fuckton of powder death stuff seemed to help a little...

To be fair, London doesn't have much of a roach problem compared to most other major cities. It's hard to go 10 feet without seeing the bastards in New York or Paris.

catnip tea

Make them some tea!

Catnip tea!

Catnip

Roaches hate catnip because it has a natural chemical repellent. Make a catnip tea by simmering some catnip in hot water and then spray it where you see roaches. This can be very effective in deterring the little buggers. You might want to try something else if you have cats though because it will drive them more bonkers than it will the roaches.

organic cockroach control

Oh god there was a dead one in my bedroom when I got home this morning. At least that means my spraying has been working though, must have died just as it made it to my room. Now I'm ever so slightly terrified of coming home from work tonight though :(
