It's a bit odd for me. Football it's club every time. CCFC getting to the prem would be far more important than Wales, say, qualifying for a major championship. Not least because a number of the 'Welsh' players just don't seem bothered/haven't even gone to the effort of learning the national anthem 
/aren't really Welsh anyway/seem to put their club above their national sides on a regular basis. If your national team is like this, how can they expect vociferous support? CCFC typify Wales far more than the national team, IMO.
With rugby I'm t'other way round. Wales first every time - couldn't really give a rat's arse about clubs, provided Welsh sides are doing well in the Heineken/EDF/Magners League
