clothes other people wear that you like the look of

Thanks for that.

Doesn't solve the problem that a lot of women have - jeans that gape at the back.

what might solve the problem is manufacturers making realistically sized clothes
dont shoot the flipping messenger

Are all elastic waisted clothes for children then? Why are jeans less acceptable.

I agree that manufacturers need to make changes, but crass comments like "elasticated jeans are for children" is living in the problem.

i thought jeans were designed to have sturdy waitband, they certainly look and i should imagine feel nicer with a regular waistband all the way around.
i dont think elasticated backs look nice and i wouldnt wear one, thats my opinion crass or not. ive got wide hips and a smaller waist so i get some gaping too. elasticated skirts can look nice i suppose but to be honest i havent given it that much thought

as for living in the problem, i dont know what you mean by that really.
saying im not going to buy these jeans because you havent put any thought into designing a pair that will fit my body seems more like addressing the problem than buying something that is no doubt marketed as a problem solver, the problem being the real sizes of real women

I've bolded the bit that is my stance. :) I get extremely annoyed by places like simplybe.co.uk and evans because half the stuff has elastic bits.

I don't care if the back is elasticated or not, as I wear my tops hanging out so nobody would see it anyway, I just haven't seen any nice jeans with elasticated waistbands. Evans don't do them - I tried three pairs on in there on Saturday and they were all ridiculously low rise.

The best fitting pair of jeans I tried on were some men's ones from Tesco but I had to breathe in a lot to do them up,, and then I couldn't sit down. But they looked great

The fact of the matter is that manufacturers don't seem terribly bothered about the fact they are failing to address the situation for a large percentage of women. You would think that sheer business sense would show them that "cater for more women = more money" but they simply don't seem that bothered. Therefore, you not buying their products isn't actually going to mean anything or impact on their profits.

I have a much narrower waist than my hips, so elasticated waists are the only way forward for most clothes - unless I want to fork out £hundreds for made-to-measure.

I'd say half of my clothes are mid-price European designer wear - not much more expensive than something similar to SimplyBe/Evans/Ann Harvey, but better fabric, better cut and a better fit.

Ulla Popken start at 16/18 - but they haven't many shops in the UK.

(except they opened one in Walton, just up the road, result!)

I may have to go tomorrow, see what jeans they have in stock.

(There are over 100 pairs of jeans on their website, but some are "jean leggings" (why, oh why?!)

couldn't think what to call this thread:(

but basically, you see another person and like the way they dress but probably wouldn't dress that way yourself, or clothes you like ladies to wear or gents - this is all getting complicated:(

as said on another thread

I liked those crop tops, but they seem to have fallen out of fashion this season.

oh yes braces. i really fancied a man who wore braces and when i see women wearing them with skirts i think they look cool but know full well i wouldnt wear it myself

saw a bloke this morning, white hooded top (spotted) drain pipe jeans, and some sort of pointed canvas shoe, thought he carried it off, but i would definitely look like a twat,

mind you, he looked a bit cold :( the price of fashion:(

All elasticasted trousers make the wearer look like they've got a nappy on :(

Well, like Geri, I don't tuck my tops in, so no-one sees it.....

I don't agree anyway, lots of my clothes have elasticated waists, most people would be none the wiser.

When's the last time you looked at your own arse? Hmmm? Be honest now :D I try to avoid looking at mine at all if I can help it but elasticated trousers make me look at least 2 sizes bigger :(
