Clothes moths

Right. I seem to have clothes moths. I know this because I dug out an old woolen dress the other day only to find it had a big hole in it.

Anyone got any tips on getting rid the little fuckers?

I assume that vaccuming everything within sight is a good idea, as well as getting some lavendar or cedar wood to hang in the wardrobe....

It's most vexing.

aargh.. they're impossible to get rid of. My last flat had them EVERYWHERE.. I mean the entire block of several hundred flats was infested, as was the house I lived in before that.. it seems to be a particular Brixton problem.

I bought some chemical stuff from DIY shops (the old napthalene moth balls aren't around any more 'cos small kids used to get poisoned by them)... whatever it was it came with little hangers to hang them in the closets.. Also Lavender balls (they sell them in the dry cleaner's on the corner of Tulse Hill and Brixton WAter Lane opp Hobgob) and I put real lavender filled sachets in ALL of my drawers... if you want to make some I have a HUGE lavender bush that you can take lavender from. However, they never went away. You'll know when you have them proper cos they fly around the place and get in the way of everything!!

Cedarwood is great for keeping them at bay. Better to go to a timber yard and get a few off cuts than pay through the nose for some fancy nonsense.

My sympathies MsT, there were moths in my old house and I was devestated when they totally demolished some really lovley things that I'd had for ever (I like to hang on to my clothes) Pretty much lost everything, and even now the few surving jumpers from that house I keep in a seperate cupboard, 'cos I'm so paranoid about them.
Sorry I know moving house is way too drastic.

look out for the discarded husks
