Class War occupying Prince of Wales' Empty Houses in 1991

I'll restate that contribution more clearly then.

1. 99.99% of people in this country have never heard of Class War.
2. Most of those that have heard of them definitely don't support them, including those with republican sentiments.
3. Had this action been successful, nothing would have changed.
4. Facts 1 and 2 are related to fact 3.
if they're facts, then you'll have no trouble providing a source to substantiate them.

But if they'd managed to occupy the houses for a long period of time and put them to good use, it might have:
  1. Put Class War in the news, so they would have become a lot more prominent
  2. Possibly increased Class War's level of support by making appealing to anti-royal sentiments
  3. Spurred others on to further, possibly more effective action
Of course, I am being a tad optimistic here ;)

Apologies that I had to take a slight detour to slap Larry for accusing me of being an estate agent, but then I've always loved the sweat and spit of the pit.
Fair dos, I thought you were just here to stir.

a lot more than 00.01% of the populace have heard of classwar ime - most people have heard of them, they're the best known anarcho group other than RTS

What about the WOMBLES? They were pretty well known a couple of years back because of the May Day and J18 stuff, weren't they?

Fair point, but have Class War had all that much coverage in recent years? I don't think I've read anything in the mainstream press mentioning them at all. Maybe there's more in the local London press or something.

I'm going to start reading the Telegraph more often :)

Fuck all this negativity in the other papers.
Aye, if you believe them, we've got a network of thousands of highly trained activists, backed up by gangs of European super terrorists with cool code names like "the Raven".

If you believe our own press, we're a pathetic mess.

Kinda makes you think.

If I remember correctly it was a joint Class War and Bristol Housing Action Group (squatting group) affair. The police got twitchy that it was going to be an action targeting Paddy Ashdown, who had a house in the village and were on hand en masse to (illegally) evict almost the second the squats were opened.

Thanks for the information. I was thinking about this because targetted occupations (ie of second homes of politicians of royalty) actually seemed interesting. But it would not work now due to police action I guess.

PS: Perhaps this should have gone in Bristle-Krs' Housing in the South West thread. It's kinda backfired here.

aye thought you might.

Except that headline was from may 4th (day after the rts day) when the press reported we'd have our revenge for the water cannon's at the street party. We did turn up after a march on the prison (below) & danced & drank beer with everyone else.

Still one of the better headlines though.
