Clap a Banker or should that be fuck one 5th Novemebr London.

Lots of young folk joined the financial services industry to escape unemployment and deprivation in desolate and soulless inner city areas, where the only alternatives to a job in banking or insurance were a life on the dole or the army or higher education.
which soulless inner city areas are these then?

i live in Sheffield, so doubt ill be there likewise, it was a message for people in London..
You gonna be watching the derby match on Sunday?! I'm going to stage my own protest against greedy footballers by mockingly applauding them when they step onto the field. Actually, don't think I've really thought that through...hmm

no in London have you seen the price of the tickets, fuck me sideways..:hmm:

the price we have paid in the UK could pay to keep all planned closures of post office open for 300 years, it's 3 times the income of a person on social security benefits.

:D Jesus at only a third the cost to keep all those post offices open those peeps on social security are raking it in :D.

Is the aim to just clap bankers, or are other financial industries to be considered too? Because on the one hand it is the bankers specifically that created the current problems with their securitised loans, but on the other hand it is obviously a given that anybody that is employed within anything remotely capitalist is scum on earth and should have obstacles placed in their path wherever possible.

And how can we spot the bankers? Shall we request via the City List that all bankers wear their monocles for the day? And that anybody that simply works for a bank but is not actually a "banker" per se just wears an armband? That way we can decide the best option on the day.

I don't agree with FP, but i don't think the term, 'scum' is justified, surprised at you BG, you used to be so balanced.

You might ask why I equate FullyPlumped with pbman ...

Both are party activists, for the Republicans and nuLabour respectively. pbman for the religious racist fucktard wing of the Republican party, FullyPlumped for the insufferably smug and condescending Harry's Place wing of nuLabour. Both of them are conscious and deeply cynical propagandists for odious political ideologies, in effect neo-cons, I therefore do not accord them the same respect that I'd accord other posters who I might happen to disagree with.

If you have a problem with that I'm very sorry to hear it, but I plan to stick to my guns on this. I have no intention of being civil to a nuLabour propagandist.

However, it appears that the neo-liberal age has ended, so the interesting question is what happens next? Both nuLabour and the tory wankers are probably still strongly aligned with finance capital, so my guess is that they'll aim to further loot the social capital and savings of ordinary people to keep their friends in the finance industry sweet. We'll find out soon eh?

I think we've already found out and you're exactly right!

Lefties who are getting a semi on over owning a bank need to realise that they only own them in the sense of underwriting their losses via taxation not in the sense of sharing the profits by dividends.

It would have been better to let bastards burn to the ground and let the survivors flourish.

life aint mate, but i would never shaft my class, sooner die on my feet than be on my knees, life on the dole is not all that bad.

Right. You haven't worked for your entire adult life. You're an anarchist who is happy to accept decades worth of succour from the state, and see no irony or contradiction in this. And your excuse is "not shafting your class".

And as someone who does not work, and has not worked, which "class" is it you champion? You certainly have little, if anything in common with the "working class".

Amen to that.

Problem is they've got a gun to most people's heads, metaphorically speaking, through their jobs, savings, assets etc.

Indeed, if it comes to that they've got a less metaphorical gun in the form of a state that effectively works for capital rather than the electorate.

So unfortunately we need something a bit better than 'let 'em burn' as a plan here ...

Things may have played out differently if they had let Northern Rock go up in flames in Septemer 2007. That may have concentrated minds in other organisations to adopt a more defensive posture.

I think all this risk of systemic collapse was completely overblown - rather like the goverment's theatre of terrorism and for similar reasons. There are plenty of banks in no trouble and they would have picked up the pieces of wreckage worth having from the failures.

Some people would have lost some money. Tough fucking luck. Call it the price of an education in how banks work.

Who the fuck said i see no irony or contradiction in my unemployment? not me and never would one presume there is no irony or contradiction in my chosen path.

Class is not based on economics alone.
