City & The City BBC series

its not as good as the book no. David Morrisey doesn't bother me much as really, thats tyador borlu's character nailed.

Which is fine, but that haggard, gruff, grieving detective shtick is really quite old now....

Saying that, Tom Burke has breathed a bit of life back in to that old dog recently while playing Cormoran Strike.

I knew absolutely nothing of the book or author.
When I saw the trailer on the beeb I thought it was just another crime drama.
So when I started watching it I was very pleasantly surprised.
I watched all 4 episodes last night I was so gripped.
Maybe if I had read or knew anything of the book I might not have felt quite the same but as someone new to the whole thing I loved it.

Only issue I had was that David Morrisey seemed to be channelling Liam Neeson in his Taken roll but I did get the feeling that was what the character was supposed to be and it seems DotCommunist confirms that.

I have the book on my kindle and series on the iPlayer. I'll only consume one of them.

Which should it be?

How much of the dialogue is from Mieville? A while since I read anything by him but seem to remember his dialogue isn’t the most natural, and could come across a lot worse on screen.

A big thing about the book for me was the Central European feel. The London accents in this are surprisingly grating.

Anyway will persevere with ep1.
