$cientology scum set up in Brixton

No, I think it's pretty clear what I'm saying.

They they're no different to any cultish 'faith' that combines lies with requests for money, and quite honestly there are Xtian churches that deserve as much, if not more ire than the Hubbardistas.

Actually, it's not.

If that's the way you feel why are you wasting time as a scientologist apologist with this inane chant of (poetic license being exercised here ...) "oh, why are you picking on them when there's others just as bad"

Seriously, if that's the way you felt you'd just fuck off and oppose some other cult -- and let those who've chosen to oppose Scientology alone.

That would make sense.

On what objective scale of 'Exploitative religious cults' is that then? More so than that Prophetess who's speakign for the POwer Church in May, or maybe the organisation planning the 'Christians in the Marketplace' symposium that are on 48 sheet posters all over S.London?

There's bloody loads of em atm. Preying on the disillusioned, disenfranchised, disconnected.

The Scientologists are only worse cos they've got the celebs lending em credibility innit

My mate did one of their 'stress tests' recently for research purposes and what he says they do is ask deliberately contentious questions and if that fails then they reposition themselves to invade your personal space in order to falsely increase stress levels. Naturally, he wiped the fucking floor with them.

Oh, and for your comprehension - Brixton high street regularly plays host to culty religious types, the Hubbardistas are no different from any of the others, so why don't you start a thread every time the Celestial Church of Christ or Socialist Worker monkeys are out? I'm more intrigued by your personal decision to specify one bunch of idiots rather than another.

Anyone that dismisses out of hand the power of organised religions (whether cult stylee, traditional/conventional, or seemingly secular) feeds into it, and is frankly a bit dim.

But going fucking ape over it looks just as stupid imo.

*waits*

I've no need to justify myself to you, KS. What are you doing, except sneering and sniping, I mean?

I'm curious ... why are you wasting time as a scientologist apologist with your inane chant of (poetic license being exercised here ...) "oh, why are you picking on them when there's others just as bad"

Seriously, one does what one can. If you did give a monkey's I'm sure you'd find lots to do -- there's plenty of mind-control rackets out there. You'd get busy opposing one of them, and let those who've chosen to oppose Scientology alone. That would make sense.

But you choose only to criticise those who do oppose cults, while opposing none of them youself. See the problem here, see why the "apologist" label fits?

He's not 'sneering and sniping' Jonti. He's doing Mr Materialist Atheist. Which is all well and fine, as long as summat don't sneak up and bite him on his dismissive arse.

And you're hardly helping matters Jonti - the end of the world is nigh

*waits again*

1. You have no idea what my own actions are in respect of protesting against cults and sects.

2. My basic point is that Brixtonites are used to monkeys selling their various faiths.

3. Since when have you been ultra-anti-Hubbard? Since it became fashionable to do so on the internet?

I criticise ALL cults and sects, and in my time have been involved in campaigns to get them evicted from buildings and communities, so don't even begin to think you can lecture me on being an 'apologist' when someone like yourself focusses solely on a single group like this.

Thing is, it took many centuries, and many deaths, to release the stranglehold of religion from our minds. Whether "mainstream" protestant or catholic.

It seems odd that people think it somehomw "enlightened" or "tolerant" (rather than just stupid and heartless) to embrace or apologise for their even-more-fraudulent successors.

You cannae fight em all, lads. Pick an enemy, as arbitrary as you like cos it doesn't matter who you pick as long as you pick one. Then give em both barrels and don';t let up until you hear the lamentation of their womenfolk.

So stop fighting amongst yourselves and stop shitting on each others choice of enemy.

Pick an enemy

I have already defeated mine

Now what?

I've read your words here. Other folks can see the tune you are singing for themselves.

2. My basic point is that Brixtonites are used to monkeys selling their various faiths.
Wow, thanks, mate.

3. Since when have you been ultra-anti-Hubbard? Since it became fashionable to do so on the internet?
You can fuck off with that kind of insinuation.

I criticise ALL cults and sects, and in my time have been involved in campaigns to get them evicted from buildings and communities, so don't even begin to think you can lecture me on being an 'apologist' when someone like yourself focusses solely on a single group like this.
Again, you stoop to making insinuations. You have no idea what my own actions are in respect of protesting against cults and sects in general. I haven't mentioned your past actions at all.

I've criticised what you've written here.

How does that work then? Cos most of the members are drawn from (in my own words lol) the 'disillusioned, disenfranchised, disconnected'.

Evicting them just moves them somewhere else and gives them extra hardship en route to draw upon to recruit further?

Or am I missing something?

I didn't know Brixton had become so gentrified. You'll have the freemasons touting for business down Electric Avenue before you know it.

So, cesare, you really think religion is as strong now as it was at the time of the Witch Hunts?
