Chris Martin

And it's not about the music anyway, it's just the sheer smugness of the bloke. The complete absence humility or self awareness. The fact everything he says sounds like it was written for him by a columnist at a sunday paper lifestyle magazine.
While I don't hang on his every word, that doesn't really fit with what I've read of Martin - where has he displayed this collosally smug, un-self aware ego?

And people can call their kids whatever they like and eat whatever they like, it's none of my concern. FWIW it never struck me that he & Paltrow chose to become poster boy (& girl) for that kind of lifestyle, more that their hyper-celebrity made it inevitable that any unusual habits would be picked over by the vermin.

I know I couldn't handle being as talentless and annoying as Chris Martin seems to be.

Millions of fans who love my work, comfortable life, and apparently Jennifer Lawrence.

Oh come sweet death! Take me from this nightmare!

I agree with you tbh. They are just ordinary smug middle class liberals who happen to have become wealthy and famous. But I fucking hate ordinary smug middle class liberals.

He's far too old for Jennifer Lawrence.

He's just a guy in an averagely dull band who by some bizarre turn of events somehow ended up half of what was briefly the most famous couple on earth. He's not particularly egotistical or power mad as far as I can tell - considering the position he's found himself in, he seems remarkably normal.

I can understand the hate for his music, but for the person? What you've posted up there is well beyond the hatred you feel for the people who shop in your local waitrose. It's part of the same bullshit prurience that leads to the tabloids going through their bins.

Listening to 'Clocks' again, there's nothing to it but some bog standard descending arpeggios over a bog standard chord progression. The lyrics are just a random selection of sort-of-rhyming couplets. Not with a gun to my head could I even guess what the song is supposed to be about.

The chorus is two words for fuck's sake. All very well if they're good words, but it's just the start of a sentence that he never finishes.

So yeah, I could've written that to be honest. I have written stuff like that in the past, most of it when I was a teenager and hadn't let learned to play instruments or compose music properly. I binned all of it on the grounds that it was tedious crap.

You should write some Coldplay songs, become world famous, and then you'll be in a unique position to educate everyone about proper music!

I've said it before on here, but, whilst the music is thankfully forgettable, his voice makes me feel like my bollocks are being nuked. He cannot sing.

He is a talented songwriter (i say this cos of the great job Mark Ronson did of 'God put a smile on your face' on his Version album...) but essentially Coldplay is terrible white middle class 'media turds' music and he is a stupid healthy wanker.

Coldplay headlined two Glastos that I was at. I wasn't where they were at (man! :p ) myself, but my absence was nothing whatsoever to do with trying to be cool and shit by deliberately, cool-ly avoiding them :hmm:

Just had other, non-main stage things to spend my time on that I happened to be getting more excited about at the time. Could well have been some boring old 70s hippies, or some bunch of superannuated punks, or some unknown kids/DJs/buskers, who knows? ...

Or I could have been just hanging out in some random tent simply vegging out and being old and drunk/stoned myself.

Most likely Glasto possibility come to think of it :) ... the things I miss being a non-main stage hoverer!

Gwyneth did write several recipe books.

Post reported for racism. And also your tag-line.

Crafted but bland tunes. Christ picking up the guitar and thinking I want to make music like this I don't get that.

But you know he's not Hitler. Just some boring pop bloke. Godwins etc

As a parallel with the art thread I suppose. We don't like music because it's supremely well constructed. It's musically perfect or whatever. It's because it says something in the The moment. The indescribable. The visceral here and now all wherever white ever.

Let's write the perfect tune, the perfect joke, paints the perfect picture. Fuck that anodyne shit.

Who the fuck is Jennifer Lawrence anyway. I know she's an fit actor. Po faced or let's go the full kind of whatever. There

I don't mind him. Seems a bit bland, but doesn't seem to take himself as seriously as everyone makes him to be, which is not a good combination - I recall a few times where he was clearly taking the piss, but the press was quick to take what he said at face value.

Coldplay are incredibly frustrating, 'to. Parachutes is a good album (and I'd probably be first row to see them live around 2000), Rush of Blood is ok-ish, and after that they pull a couple of decent songs on every record, but I'm always with the impression they could be a more... energetic, particularly after teaming up with Eno. I still give them a spin on every record. More than I can say about Muse, who have clearly lost all sense of self-awareness.
