Choose where I live in Sydney, Australia

Mhendo you are a diamond geezer. Your advice is very helpful. Domain is brilliant, just the thing I've been looking for it looks like we'll definitely be able to get something good. Even in Coogee we could get walking distance to the beach etc and in the Eastern Suburbs it looks like we could get huge value for money.

Cheers for the advice on driving. GoGet might be a really good idea actually, at least for the first couple of months. That way we can get settled and go exploring without the hassle of public transport whilst also seeing whether we actually need a car. I doubt we will to be honest.

Don't move to Sydney, some New South Welshmen will stab you and blame it on a Lebonese bloke then they'l be riot, some White Power cunts will hand out leaflets and you'll cop the blame. :( Come to Melbourne its chaper, we've got Trams and John So and AFL and the same joke about Federation Square being incomplete every day in the oppinion section of the Herald Sun. Plus everyone will think your super original. :D

Well, despite being in sydney now for nearly 3 months, it is only now that we have finally found a flat. Its in Potts Point and we move in tonight.

We did actually have a flat (in Surry Hills) but it turned out to be infested with some hard nosed termites who, despite being poisened, strong armed and bribed, didn't want to leave. In the end we had to give up and move on.

Glad we did though because now we have a gorgeous flat in Potts Point (the garden end apparently) with glimpses of the Harbour Bridge, 1 bed with balcony for AU$390 a week which, after 5 weeks in the marketplace, isn't a bad price.

Thanks to everyone on this thread for their help and advice.

Potts Point is nice. Plenty to do and close enough to everything.

I'm a bit late to the thread but I was going to recommend the northern beaches. Manly is nice but not cheap but it has some of the best views in Sydney if you are up on the hill (or in Taronga :p )

Anyway, Welcome to Oz...and good luck with the move.

...and I'll only be staying the one night on the 3rd. See you then. ;)

I know but it would probably take me about 5 hours to get to work.
