...but.. not Roots Square which is ridiculous. Besides, Roots author Alex Haley has Scottish and Welsh roots, so it should be Taffy McRoots Square.

Thing is Tate "Gardens" (see Eds picture gallery for it in its original glory) was given to Lambeth as a gift.I believe it has a covenant on it.

Also its known in council etc circles (outside the earshot of Councillors and senior officers) as Tiananmen Square .

Its compulsory to show the requisite enthusiasism for the sq.Every meeting i go to at some point they mention it.Its the pride and joy of Labour Councillors.

"Work is starting on the sq soon" Must be followed by Maoist style applause from grateful residents.
