Chilli sauce appreciation thread

Is that sauce that was on Dragons Den still on the market? Perhaps it is one of the ones mentioned above.

I bought some of this the other day - it's more of a spicy ketchup. I had some on a sausage sandwich last night, was reasonable spice build up by the end and I put a fair wodge on too.

Still won't be anywhere near the league of some of chilli sauces on the market.

ah - that stuff is the best!

haven't had any for a while but its got such a good taste...

thai isn't it?

yeah it's thai but that brand is pretty popular in the vietnamese community.

they've recently released a few extra options.
'garlic' and 'extra hot' flavour.

i usually get them from the chinese supermarkets...

I have a bottle of the one in the middle (rooster brand) in my hand at the moment and it's "Made in U.S.A." by Huy Fong Foods, of Rosemead, California.

If you eat at a pho place in Canada, this is always the sauce they give you.

To be honest, i reallly ain't too into that brand, although a mate of mine who's also a chilli fiend would always try to convert me to it.

I've got a bottle of it and it is nice on rice dishes but to me it just doesn't taste very LIKE CHILLIS - which for me is what makes a good chilli sauce.

I'll have to check my collection when I get home, but from memory some of my favourites are the El Yukateco line (esp the green one - probably jalapeno), Picapeppa who have a parrot an their labels do a great habanero sauce, and i do declare for a general 'table'/slap it all over everything and anything sauce my favourite is 'Maggi's Extra Hot'.

:)

I would have to agree.

derf;7522735 Put it on what you like but if you do your mouth will love you forever. (sorry douglas) And.....it's available in the UK. Try chinese supermarkets for a taste of this wonderful stuff. The manis padas (sweet and hot) is especially nice. :)[/QUOTE said:
thanks, i've never tried that one. will pop up to china town at lunch and try to grab a bottle then. the ultimate chilli sauce is a veritable Holy Grail of mine. :)

Just bought a bottle of Sriricha (sp?) from Wing Yip last w/e - the extra hot variety, although if I'm honest I can't remember all this yellow cap (extra hot) and green top business. It's just a fantastic chilli sauce, especially got for dipping.

Outside of that, it's usually my mum's pepper sauce, made with wirrie peppers rather than bugramans (scotch bonnets to anyone other than Amerindian Guyanese) for a distinctive tang. And Jimmie's chilli sauce from Brazil is a winner too, a vinegary and thin sauce with a kick

I think I've about 6 open chilli sauce bottles at the mo.
:o

Had a check last night: a few others that are greally good are 'mama Africa's Chilli & Mint sauce" which is just so gorgeous you'll end up eating it with a spoon.

'Bart' organic chilli sauce is the one i weas trying to remember the name of before which is also lush.

and 'Bufalo' Chipotle is my favourite smoked chilli sauce.

:p

Now we're talking! Good to know you can get it in the UK, I only brought back a couple of jars of it from Indonesia and they've been used up ages ago.

Eta: Just found this place that sells it online.

Econa Hot Pepper Sauce FTW but I love this on Falafel with loads of tahini:

Jerk paste on Chicken on a barbecue is probably the closest to perfect food.

my name is SB and i love chilli i can not lie :D

i prefer freshly cut scotch bonnet into food though or making my own fresh chilli sauce to go with fried plantain, yam and eggs yummy

I love chilli sauce - add it to loads of things. :)

Usually have a few different ones in, depending on what I pick up when I'm in the shops. Mainstays are usual Tabasco, little jars of chopped chilli in vinegar (good for cooking when you want some chilli bits present like egg noodles), sweet chilli sauce. Got a jar of chilli jam at a farmers market that I've not tried yet - no idea how hot that is. Also keep in various jars of chilli flakes and ground chilli, just on the remote possibility I run out!

A word of warning though. I bought a large bag of dried red chillies from a Chinese supermarket once, and was wondering what to do with them. So came up with the bright idea of shoving around a dozen of them in a bottle of olive oil and a bottle of vodka. Left them to infuse for several weeks and hoiked the chillies out.

Oh my god! The vodka was like lava, and the oil was nuclear strength - great for cooking, but you could only use it in very small quantities. I'd recommend putting slightly fewer chillies in next time...:D

and some independently made scotch pepper chilli sauce

Jeez that looks nice. Actually making my mouth water. I love Scotch Bonnet. I should try some exotic chillies, cos Scotch Bonnet really appeals to me more than other regular varieties. There are probably some other good-uns I'm missing out on.

Another vote for that Cholula stuff too. Tasty stuff.

Ran out of Cholula so bought some of this:

Bleeergh, didn't realise it would be cloying sweet chilli sauce, not keen.

Fancied a garlic chilli sauce so I've just bought the Nandos one and in case it has no heat another bottle of Encona as backup, bringing the total in the cupboard to about 6 varieties at the moment.

Obviously I'm a big fan of Mexican ones. Goes without saying. But I discovered this one in Malawi that is very very good.

Chilli sauce is great :) I often carry a bottle in my work bag to spice up lunch. like the Holy Cow garlic one at the moment, plus I made a mild chilli paste with Chipotle and smoked ancho chiles recently. The yellow one in the picture is super hot scotch bonnet made by tendril. Urbunz are generous supporters of my chilli habit. Mation once sent me a care package with Encona when I was overseas  This is what's currently in the cupboard. Does wasabi count? uploadfromtaptalk1371133457805.jpg
