Childrens packed lunches - what do you give your offspring in theirs?

My 2 had a roll with ham and cucumber, grapes, a piece of homemade flapjack and orange squash.

They even find that difficult to eat as they want to go out to play so much but can't leave the table until at least the roll has been finished.

Plus we have to have 'eco' friendly lunch boxes so everything has to be in tupperware boxes and no rubbish that can't be composted.

It's like something off the krypton factior trying to get all the boxes in the lunch box!

Well, we are sticking with the wraps as they seem to like them but I've bought some chicken tikka and chilli chicken pieces to put in them tomorrow with some salad as a change from cheese and ham. I've also got them some pepperami - expensive stuff isn't it?!

Baby steps and all that......... :)

The girl seems to be enjoying school dinners, she had a baked potato with cheese and beans today so that's alright. Actually, thinking about it - I may be eligible for free school dinners again now I'm not working although that's no good for the little one as they only do packed lunches there and they are a bit grim.

My dad used to get jam sandwiches every single day. So one day he asked my gran if he could get something different. The next day he opened his packed lunch to find toast on oranges

That's what he told me anyway.

Mine's all excited that they now have a salad bar and do baked potatoes as well. Poor kid can't eat bread or pasta cos it makes her 1. wheeze and 2. double up with stomach cramps, so she's a bit limited on the packed lunch front.

feyr jnr and feyrette's school is a "healthy school" and is also nut free, so no nuts or nut products, no sweets, chocolate or crisps. feyr jnr is really picky so he has a cheese sandwhich and a homemade flapjack, feyrette has school dinners because she will eat anything:) their school dinners are well poncy at times though, today they had herb crusted fish, brocolli, parsnips and green beans , with a fruit muffin for pudding

She usually has school dinners, and loves them (her school food is lovely - I've had it a couple of times myself when working there). On the few occasions she's had packed lunches, or when I give her a pached lunch for holiday clubs and so on, it's a sandwich of either cheese, ham, quam, cream cheese, tuna, egg or hummus, with tomato slices or sweetcorn, a small piece of fruit that she can eat easily (usually grapes), a big bottle of fruit juice, and something like a flapjack or maybe a cereal bar. If I give her more than that - and I have tried - it just comes home uneaten, except by fruit flies.
