Cheese/butter made from breastmilk

Can you do that? That's a nice thought. I though the reason prems couldn't breast feed was cos they hadn't developed the sucking reflex/they were too weak etc, not cos the mum wasn't able to produce milk (although I'm judging this by a mate who recently had a prem baby so I guess it varies)
Yeah, I know people who have. Like toggle, I got nowhere with a breast pump but I know people who have donated loads. The hospital come round and collect it.

Aw, lovely, if I can use a pump and am getting on okay with breast feeding I'm definately gonna give that a go.

Although thinking about it, I don't know anyone who's got on okay with expressing milk :hmm:

Yes that may be the case but what's wrong with using waste milk that would have otherwise been thrown away (as in the first link that I posted in my original post)

I'm not suggesting that we turn women into milk factories for fucks sake

Jesus...

All mamals are capable of producing milk, that is intended for their young. You really think that cows were put here espicailly for us to take advantage of their milk

no need to roll your eyes....if you want boob cheese make it your damn selves!!!

:-p

Sadly, you cannot make cheese out of breast milk despite the rumours of it being sold in France.

Which is a shame, because I think it is a great idea. I don't understand why so many people are disgusted by the idea of it. If it was possible I would eat cheese made from my girlfriend's breastmilk - what's so disgusting about that? It's perfectly natural, and it's from someone you know and love. It can't be any worse than other human excretions that you might swallow.

Apparently you can make butter and yoghurt from it though.

Anyone tried? Probably tastes horrible but I would love to try it just for the sake of trying something new and 'unusual'

i think i have that manga

exactly!!!

for men OR women !!!

But it is all the marketing surely?

e.g

"A Wholesome milk-based product, lovingly extracted from the bountiful breasts of a nursing woman" sounds just about palatable.

"Boob cheese" sounds like it warrants a course of anti-biotics.

:hmm:

well, ok thats true....

i do reckon though that men have no idea how painful breastfeeding can be and how agitated it could make one if asked to squeeze a bit more out for churning. :-p

maybe i feel that way because my boobs ached so BADLY after i had my kids...im sure theres plenty of women who have had no problem and would gladly make hippy butter!

i think its a hippy thing OK! (not breastfeeding, just the rest :=p...)

Look, it takes a lot of energy producing milk for a baby. Fair enough, give surplus to prem babies, but I had visions of milking parlours all for poncey foodies new cheese experience. Lactating is actually quite tiring. I know, I have spent time doing it. A total of about 30 months breast-feeding.

Oh really, thanks a lot for telling me that. I didn't know that because I don't have a mother

FFS

I've tasted my own breast milk and it aint that nice tbh.........it's quite watery and sweet tasting.........not a very high fat content afaik !

Mind you i don't particulary like milk on it's own as a drink anyhoo.......euch !
