I liked Chavez. I found that his changing of the constitution was a step forward for the Venezuelan people. He boasted a much larger democratic system than most Countrys in the world. He set up representation everywhere in the system. His Nationalising of certain oil companies, and subsidising of schemes for local communities with the windfall from the expelling of the Private companies involved was a far journey away from the Khazakstani President Nationalising his oil reserves and keeping the profits for himself.
Chavez braved political hostility from the world by sending delegates to Gay Pride marches to tell the people there to "have a ball".
But I am extremely dubious about his intentions now, and find some of his plans undermine his past excitable approach towards democracy. I think he's getting a bit too big for his boots, i'm afraid.
