Chasing Red - La Vuelta 2018

Yates, if he does it, is definitely my favourite of the four British GT winners. A proper climber and without the huge team of the others.

Hopefully Adam can match him next year at some point.

I did, but even that collapse wasn’t as sudden or late as this would have to be
1-38. With what, 5 categorised climbs in less than 100km?

I think he’s managed his form well and is going to do it, but it’s not that impossible for him to crack/somone else (Valverde presumably) to catch him.

Great ride from Enric Mas today especially considering he had no team mates after the first bump in the road.
Sky will probably sign him to be a supermom for Bernal

I really enjoyed that. Yates is just incredibly entertaining. His answer to every tactical question is to attack again. Also Mas was fun and I defy any cycling fan not to like Pinot’s wins.

He really took it to Movifail.
Incredible ride by Mas. Last Friday he was 12th after having been sick yet managed to climb up to 2nd without any semblance of a team (QS squad was built around Viviani) and still managed to attack on occasion despite Mitcheton Scott, Astana and Movistar having decent doms.
I thought he had an (pretty) outside chance of podium and regret not putting money on at 40/1.

He just took everything in his stride and stayed so calm and collected. Much better tactically over the 3 weeks. Obviously he didn't have a Dumoulin or Froome at his heals but there was plenty of talent he had to fend off. Amazing year for UK cycling.

I think it's Will Fotheringham in the Guardian who's written about how they had to use a different strategy in the Giro as they expected Froome and Dumoulin to pick up time on the long time-trial.

Anyway - that was a great tour, after a confusing first week... I like these less dominated races, and young riders coming through. Good to see Mr De Ghent winning the mountain classification as well.

He should be stripped of his title . Look at Mitchelton Scott blatantly blocking the road so no one can overtake
