ITV4 definitely have at least a highlights package, probably at 7pm.

Looking forward to some great stages and good racing.

Yes, although mentioned above that Egan Bernal will not be taking part in the Vuelta he suffered an horrendous facial trauma yesterday in a crash during the Clasica San Sebastián.

Stage 20. So they’ll be knackered.

    105km, 4000m climbing, 6 categorised climbs

Stage 13 final climb. To be filed under "rather them than me" :D

Stage 19 is described by the organisers as "flat".

It ends with a cat 1 climb :D

I'm lost with the apologies and really not necessary. Without wishing to distract from the vuelta, it's the giro I looked forward to most.

Meh. They have compact gearsets and waffer thin bikes that weigh naff all. They should be made to do it on my 13kg cross bike with a broken rear derailleur and loaded panniers.

    Or a Brompton.

Simon Yates looking ready for the Vuelta. He is an incredibly good rider to watch.

We like things on paper, like books and mags. I went to look for the new procycling yesterday in the hope it will contain a decent review of the vuelta. Instead of that, there was an issue explaining how Her won the tour and nothing but that. Hundreds of bloody pages

I've just looked at the GC odds and someone must've fucked with Oddschecker, because they've got Viviani as the favourite.

Dennis odds-on for the 8km prologue looks about right though.

I think that's for the points classification! They've got Simon Yates as fav, followed by Porte/ Quintana.

So, thoughts so far? I don't suppose much has happened from a GC perspective, other than Porte essentially conceding.

Nibali also tanked today. Kwiato looked good.

Adam Yates and Dan Martin out of the running also. Simon didn't look great either.

I backed kwiatkowski at 44s-ish before the start. Also pinot at around 30s.

I guess the main question now is about Kwiato - is he riding for the win? First time he’s done 2 GT’s in a season, he’s just come off winning the tour of Poland so his legs may be tired, and the world championships are looming with a course he could really do well on.

    Quickstep open their account.

Hard to know what is going on with Kwiato. I thought de la Cruz was their GC hope.

Kwiato is quite clearly a GC winner of the future. But I have a feeling he’s gonna crack in the 3rd week this time round.

Not sure kwiat will have any issues lasting 3 weeks, tbh

Could Quintana be fancying his chances? I know he's straight out of the tour, but some of the faves have already had issues and he not up against the full on sky train.

Great battle for overall standings today, shames it's just 4 days old.

Kwiato/Sky didn’t exactly look that commited to keeping the lead yesterday :hmm:

Does anyone know what Tao Geoghegan Hart's monologues are meant to add to ITV's coverage? Today was essentially, "Because we cycle for 5 hours a day we need to eat a lot".

All a bit crazy in that last 20k.

A helicopter blowing plastic barriers into the sprinters as they crossed the line didn’t exactly help matters either :D

Perfect timing from Gallopin to get the jump on everyone today.

Kwiato dropped a big chunk of time.
