Just a couple of days to go to the start of the Giro and full of controversy before it starts
Is Froome being paid to start, should he be starting, should it go to Israel?
An unfortunate parallel between Pantani and Froome?
Sadly, i don't think there is coverage on ITV, only Eurosport, both live and late night catch up!
I would like to see Chaves do well but fancy Dumoulin. Will it be decided on Finestre?

That was some start for From. Not.

Didn't realise there was giro specific thread.

Weak today from Pinot, more so from Froome give his pedigree. Aru and Lopez had a mare. Nice rides by Yates and pozzovivo .

Dumo laying down a marker early.

Yup, great ride from Tommy D...27 seconds is a handy head start. Going to need it once sky starts shelling him when it gets steep. Some cracking mountain finishes in the latter stages this year. Here's to a great race (and avoiding the unbearable sight of froome winning:D)

(Are they doing oooropa this year?)

Quick heads up. There is an hour's highlights every evening on the quest (freeview) channel at 19.00 tonight. If you did want to catch up with the excitement of today's stage.....

Not likely to need 60 minutes for tbf. They hit Etna soon tho - fingers crossed for no headwind.

Not for 2 days, but looking forward to it. Not sure if quest is showing highlights for entire 3 weeks, but, so far, so good

Time was better spent watching the Tour de Yorkshire today. Proper racing, and a proper ride from stage winner Stephane Rosetto who went on a solo raid and somehow held on for the win.

I spotted this too, and will probably pick it up once the snooker's finished after today.

Froome ships another 30 seconds or so. Though to Wellens who won the stage so will be less to the other GC men.

Edit: looks to be up to 19s to the other GC riders

Good stage today, the final 10k or so was a bit crazy

Yup. I caught the final 3k on quest +1 this evening. An exciting and technical finish. A large left hand hairpin that close to the finish!

The highlights are on Quest (and presumably Quest +1) again both tonight and tomorrow.

That's a massive break up the road. Quite a few heavy hitters too.

Yeah, surprised they've been allowed to go. Will certainly make things a bit more interesting later as it looks like there's headwind up Etna again, which made the stage a bit less dramatic than it could have been last year...

Froome dropped due to a mechanical. Astana were already on the front, but the gap to the leaders had been droppibg rather quickly since... :hmm:

Froome dropped with 4km to, though might well just be doing his yo-yo thang.

Yates gonna take time as mitchelton Scott probs get a 1-2

Edit:. Froome still with the favs

I haven't seen today's stage yet, but, I thought they were taking quite a sheltered route up Etna?

Based on yesterday, I'd say froome is favourite, with yates, dumoulin and Chavez chasing him home

Froome looked bloody awful today*. Didn’t lose any time though. Was a great win for Carapaz, when he kicked nobody stood a chance, it was perfectly timed.

*well, even more than he usually does :D

I gather he had a fall again today, in the wet, quite close to the finish.
Will start to get good this week when it goes up. Unfortunately will not see Friday's stage, at all

I think he'll be back to his old(pre 2011) form, for some reason.

Over a minute lost for Froome today, he looked terrible again. GC is gone now for him, baring a miracle.

    Yates however, was awesome
