Chas & Dave: Crap/not crap?

El Sueno said:
Apparantly they hate each other now, travelling in seperate cars etc. and barely speaking a word other than onstage.

Well, I saw them stuck in traffic on the way to Beautiful Days - all three of 'em in the same car. Not exactly full of hatred for each other.

On stage, I think they just trot out the hits now, plus a couple of oldies and goodies like Edmonton Green (but no Ponders End Allotment Club as yet, boo!). First time I caught them was on the Two For One tour when they did an acoustic set of old music hall numbers. That got me researching Harry Champion (End Of My Old Cigar, I'm Henery the Eighth I Am I Am, etc).

That said, I'm a sucker for Gertcha and Sideboard. No Snooker Loopy tho', eh lads? Bit of restraint please ;)

Depends on how much you have had to drink, they seem to be very popular with drunk Londoners abroad :)

A little bit of Pie and Mashup

Saw them at I think it was beautiful days a few years back, a bit disappointing, musically tight but zero rapport with the audience

We supported them recently and they did a pretty good show.

They mainly played traditional blues-based standards and unpretentious working class tunes, and the (very mixed) crowd loved them.

Chas was a session musician in the 60s for producer Joe Meek & played with several well known bands & artists of the time & both were in Cliff Bennett & the rebel rousers who had hits in the 60s so they are both good musicians.

I saw them at a festival not so long ago. They were really good but then I love any band that's playing in a field in summer when I've had a few drinks.

I have a double vinyl album of theirs. Nothing to play it on, mind.

I have Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Nick Cave, Revolting Cocks / Ministry, and other odds and sods on vinyl (such as the ltd edition Atoms For Peace) with absolutely nothing to play them on. Some are still in the cellophane; unopened and pristine... waiting until I CBA to frame them :o

(Next year I'll buy a load of Tom Waits in cellophane like a dick)

I saw them at knebworth festival in 1979, led Zeppelin were headlining and Chas and dave were maybe cresting on the glory of a recent number one? Can't say i remember them , my fault not theirs - first festival, freebie entrance over the fence, about two quid in my pocket and an amazing weekend

my first 7 inch (as pictured) - this was the b-side

what comes from growing up in tottenham :D
(to clarify it was a present and i was 6)
not too PC this tune to put it mildly (ragheads and tarts etc) - doubt they play this one out anymore
