Charity Furniture Shops

I'm going to dedicate a whole day to travelling round these shops looking for a dressing table. Seriously.

badgers - we've got one of these

going if you want it - currently it's got a red cover on it, which is a bit tatty, but I've also got a brand new cream cover for it as well.

give us a shout if you want it :)

the one on walworth road that often has sofas and some brilliant old furniture (I've seen a few vintage home bars in there  but  at not having the space for one :( ) is on the corner of walworth road and liverpool grove, just along from m&s.

but if you need a sofa pronto, the bhf on old kent road might be a better bet.

Cool. I will check them out, I'd sooner get an old one that's in good nick rather than some ikea jobby.

...

The advantage of getting one at a charity shop (apart from the recycling and good cause) is that you can sit on it first and also they will deliver as a sofa can be tricky on a bus...
:)

I like that image. Perhaps on a par with hitch-hiking around Ireland with a fridge. There is a book in it I think. :D

I remember them, they're a bit pricey iirc :(

As wiht a lot of these places, they're often very good value for more expensive stuff, but poor value for cheap and cheerful. I bought a very good quality, good condition 2-seater sofa from them for £30 about two years ago, and they even threw in a free armchair! OTOH, they had Ikea coffee tables for more than they're worth new.

thumbs up here for emmanus in west norwood, my girlfriend furnished her flat with stuff from there... very cheap, nice and helpful, and deliver too

I have a relative in the trade: the problem with the smaller charity shops is (sometimes) that the pricing is done by people that don't really have a clue about how much stuff is worth, which is why it can seem very expensive. But I suppose that's also an attraction, as you might find a Barcelona chair for fifty quid.
