Charities/Third Sector: Digging the grave of the welfare state?

I hate to agree with anything baldy says, but he has a point re managers. they are fucking hard to get rid of, and, as you no doubt know, they do tend to be even less well versed in basic principles of decent management and employment law than those in the public sector.

He is a bitter ol' fuck tho

1 Thanks.

2 Thanks again.

Had a chat with some big up charities not so long ago on a civil service training course. Basically they split their campaigning and service delivery arms so that they are not "compromised" into towing a Government line.

Hmm there's a lot of ambiguous language used by the Charity Commission when it talks of how charities can campaign..
.."special rules" and grey areas about whether a charity's campaign is political..which then means they can then be deemed not a charity and instead a political organisation even if the cause is inextricably linked to government policy..so I find it hard to believe that any charity that tries to portray itself as not having to tow a Government line if it receives Government(sic) money by splitting its different delivery arms can really succeed..
