thanks :)

part of my gripe was that some of the materials we were told were essential either weren't, or really should have been provided cos we only needed a tiny amount for one session.

big paper (a1), charcoal, conte crayons, rubbers and oil paint were the main ones we actually used oh and lots of masking tape. but we were told to get pens and lots of other stuff we barely touched (although i guess the idea was that once we tried them we might have decided that's what we wanted to use). a big portfolio for taking stuff to/from is a big investment too. i got a2, thinking i wouldn't be arsed to carry anything bigger but then ended up working almost entirely a1  the extendable tubes are some kind of compromise, but you still need somewhere to store stuff at home, so a1 would have been better to start with i reckon.

You will be pleased to know that according to the Daily Mail - there have been tens of complaints about this to OFCOM.

One said:

"I was home ill and I was watching this on Channel 4. I was so shocked it caused me to have a relapse".

Really. :(

lots of people called in to praise it as well
and some of the negative comments were about the quality of the art rather than the nudity.

Does that mean OFCOM will make a ruling for the majority who don't give a stuff, rather than upholding one complaint out of a far bigger audience who want to watch it?

pose 2

pose 3 was quicker than i expected, but this is the best of a bad bunch for proportions etc. turns out stubby crayons are shit to draw with cos you can't rub them out and they're a bit, well, stubby.

episode 3, charcoal, another bizarrely long neck (i love that you only see those glaring disproportions when you've finished  turns out the tutor wandering round and drawing your attention to that kind of stuff early on in the process is actually quite helpful... )

i didn't like that they didn't tell us how long the pose was going to be this time and i didn't like the way they cut to the artist's pictures. i did like that his picture as so crap though :D and he's right about starting with something crappy so you're not afraid to ruin it.

no-one else playing? :(

ep 5 pose 1

this is my favourite model/pose so far, the artist was right, it confuses you so much you have to start from scratch. was expecting longer for this so it's pretty flat, happier with next version which is same pose from other side. charcoal/conte crayon.
