what would be the easiest type lock to fit to inside doors? something that the above picture? if I just wanted to keep people out when I wasn't there like. The bedroom door I'd like to be able to look from inside or out. though probably not all the regular so something like the above might work
You can put mortice locks on internal doors, either a 3 lever or a 5 lever lock (like the one above). One small problem is that most internal doors made in the last 50-60 years aren't solid, they're frames with skins on them, which means you may have to play silly buggers a bit to mount the lock, if your doors are particularly cheap/shoddy. You can also choose whether you want a keyhole on both sides of the door, or just one - it's just a case of not drilling a hole right through!
Going lock shopping today. I may not fit internal locks cuz there will be one key to the new lock with ONE spare and if people don't have one then they have to ring my doorbell like anyon eelse.
Speaking of doorbells... Anyone got one with a camera in it?
so trying to replace this now. the screws holding the lock in on the 'side' of the door were sweet. but when i'm trying to take the handle off loosening the inside screw tightens to outside one... wah??
but for some reason when i loosen the inside screws the outside tighten and vice versa. is this some sort of security thing or something? do I after all need a locksmith?
