Champions League Draw

On the Copa Libertadores though, I would love to see what would happen if you somehow mixed the competitions at the quarter final stages. Swapped one half of their draw, for one half of ours.

it should be a bi-annual thing IMO. then the winners of each tournament play in the super grand world club champions championship final, played at a purposely built stadium with 200,000 capacity on a platform in the middle of the atlantic ocean.

Outside of the Copa Libertadores, it's the most elite club competition in the world. Who gives a fuck if it's called Champions this or Champions that. We seem perfectly able to turn a blind eye to our club's marketing nonsense, so why kick up a fuss about the CL.

True but the lack of thought in naming is just grist to some peoples mill.

Lets just call a spade a spade and call it what it is...A European League, which I have no problems with.

Hosted by Poseidon.

to be honest i think there should be a stadium built in the middle of the ocean anyway. it's about time. someone with enough dosh should do it and build it huge. with a golf course, no F1 cos it would be too big.
it would be the perfect venue for the ultimate of sporting events - the above final, world cup final, the superbowl, wrestlemania, basketball play-off final and add an extra grand slam onto golf, tennis etc.
and all the fans would arrive in boats and stay the night at the resort complex.

i just feel that often there are huge sporting events where the occasion doesn't quite live up to the billing. this would change that. just imagine the helicopters flying overhead and the excitement it would bring. it's time

you truly are ahead of the times drink. riding the crest of the wave on football thinking.

i thought the general opinion in football was that arsenal have jumped from 4th to 1st because of their ability to deal with the physical side.

seems like Gallas is of the same thinking....:D

"What does Gary Neville do after beating LFC in the Champion's League final....?

Turn his play station off and get into bed with his sister."

:D

knew it was a joke when you mentioned Liverpool getting into the final....can't see them spawning that again...;)

Now, if it wasn't fixed why did they need a rehearsal draw (I know there was one because bbc.co.uk published the rehearsal) - it's just 8 balls being pulled out of a drum one at a time - not exactly rocket science, is it.

To make a point that it wasn't fixed?

Apparently if you watch the draw (on You Tube or such like) it always cuts to the audience as the team is announced. There's a lot of talk about betting scams originating from Goa.

I don't know if it was fixed or not but if you read the thread on RAWK it's quite interesting. It's not a draw that benefits any particular team as such but Utd (and Chelsea I think) potentially have two second leg home ties.
