Champions League Draw

It won't happen. United screwed up their end of that possibility last season. They choke on the big occasions in Europe. Winning it in 99 was the biggest mistake they could make because their supporters just get more and more upset each year when they get knocked out again.

Liverpool on the other hand are practically in Moscow.

Christ what insuufferable arrognace from a shower of shit who haven't sniffed a league title in 18 years.

Arsenal and Chelsea stand in the way of Moscow and Arsenal gave youse a footballing lesson at Anfield.

Your luck has gotta run out some time.

Who mentioned the winning the league? What relevance does that have here? I'll give you a stat - Two CLs in the last 3 years v Fergies 1 in the last 21. Thoughts?

Yes Arsenal outplayed us in the league and got a draw. Technically you outplayed Pompey last week and lost. What's your point whingie boy?

Thoughts....its a cup competion the best team do not always win....hence your spawning of it a few years back....the league conveys the superiority that Utd have had over Liverpool for getting on for 2 decades that a few cup wins cannot mask:)

So we agree. They are two completely different competitions which are in no way comperable. At least one of you talks sense :p

If you agree that Utd are superior I think we can leave it at that;)

In the league for the last few years there is no doubt of that. I'd look as ridiculous as Revol if I tried to argue otherwise.

Apart from when super Danny Murphy kept scoring the winner at OT.:D

Getting to the final doesn't count as winning it.

Thoughts? There are no rosettes for CL finals; there is a winner & the rest of us lose. Well done vs AC but that's it. can you name any runners-up outside of 'pool? i can't. As for utd setting their expectation too high after 99: talk about pot kettle black. One gorgeous final 3 years ago and you'd think that you have a devine right to euro glory.

'pool have only ever competed in one competition after christmas, making it an easier run-in than those of us who attempt to win something domestically too, & the 70-odd games that brings. winning the league is not just missing for you; it's not even in the plan.

so i guess yes winning the only competition that you attempt to play in, once, in recent years makes you a shoe-in.

Not totally clear on your point as there seem to be words missing but I think you are saying that being beaten finalists means nothing. Agree. I''l revamp the stat but it still looks bad on whiskey face:

Rafa/LFC - 1 win in 3 years. Slur Alex/Mancs - 1 win in 21 years.

The 5th in the League's League.

2005 made it a mockery.

i agree, livepool done the baby thing, it's not fair we finished 5th but we won the champions league please let us in. i would of said no bollox to you scousers you knew the rules at the start of the season. but uefa showed that they hadn't really thought it through. which makes the qualifying a joke thanks to shitepool.

so you;d rather have a competition without the current holders in it? how does that make sense? i'm all for holders getting automatic qualification. even it it were chelsea!

Yeh the current rules don't make sense, but as the rules are liverpool shouldn't have been allowed in if they finished 5th. Its not about whats fair, its about sticking to the rules you make or they become meaningless. The holders should always qualify, i dunno why that's even been changed.

so am i. but the rules are stated at the start of every season and i take it liverpool knew the rules. it's like the team who finishes 3rd in the championship and doesn't go up in the play offs, do you hear them say we should go up we finished 3rd? no, so liverpool bought more shame on that competitition by moaning about not qualifying properly. after all they only had themselves to blame for being shit in the league.

I really like the CL as a spectacle. But this business with Liverpool is a bit strange. SG could win the Cl a number of times without winning the domestic League...Which (as some have stated) makes a mockery of the "CHAMPIONS" bit...

It really is just a question of semantics. The comp' itself is established world sports finest.

Outside of the Copa Libertadores, it's the most elite club competition in the world. Who gives a fuck if it's called Champions this or Champions that. We seem perfectly able to turn a blind eye to our club's marketing nonsense, so why kick up a fuss about the CL.

On the Copa Libertadores though, I would love to see what would happen if you somehow mixed the competitions at the quarter final stages. Swapped one half of their draw, for one half of ours.
