Considering the bloke suffers from bi-polar, the word pompous is last thing I would use to describe him. I'm no foody, but whenever I watch any of his shows, he comes across as articulate, passionate, and very humble and modest.
Oh well, different strokes and all that.
I think Rick Stein is brilliant, from the first episode I ever saw when he cut himself on a really sharp knife then threw it straight in the bin... but if there's one thing that wound me up about him it was his constant Chalky references. The Christmas Special, with Chalky dressed up in fucking tinsel and bells hanging off him every time they showed the title of a new section, made me cringe. Sad for Rick to see Chalky go but I aint gonna miss him.
We were in Fowey once and i looked down to see this really sweet looking doggie and was about to cop a free stroke when i thought i'd better check with the owner, looks up, rick stein.
Yep nice doggie Chalky was and Ricks a nice bloke too. Just thought of that clip where Ricks in his house being interviewed and Chalkies sitting next to him on the sofa really calmly. Then all of a sudden Chalky starts a murmering growl and then freaks right out jumping into the air which does everyones head in because no one knows why!
