I'd not heard her version of Move Me No Mountain before

Fantastic 1981 set performed at the Roxy Theater in LA with an all-star jazz-funk backing group. Remember seeing it on TV over here not long afterwards.

For me her early solo albums and the stuff with Rufus are very evocative of the late 70s/early 80s. It's not what I listened to the most, but for some reason it brings back a lot of memories.

That looks great...look forward to playing that.

Got to see her once in the early 90s IIRC at Shepherds Bush Empire IIRC ( i dont really remember ;) ) - she kept nipping behind the caurtain for a quick toot and looked increasingly smashed by the end of the set.... i know she went through an addiction period for quite a while...seems like she had fun too!

"On a recent episode of Piers Morgan Tonight, R&B legend Chaka Khan spoke about her most cherished memories of the late Whitney Houston — which apparently include her, Whitney and Bobby Brown getting high on drugs together.

“They’re all really good [memories]. And funny ones. There was one time, me and her and Bobby were all together in a hotel, it was actually in Florida as well. And we were up there getting high together. Talking crazy and having a really, really, really good laughing, and a really, really good time,” said Chaka Khan."

Long ago Chaka Khan received a lesson on drugs from Etta James; unfortunately the younger singer only took a small piece of the message to heart.

"When I first went to sign at Warner Bros. I met Etta James," Chaka Khan told Britain'sOK! magazine. "She was standing outside in the hall waiting for me. I was a big fan, so I was really pleased to see her."

"She said to me, 'Whatever you do, if you wanna be in this business…' showing me the tracks on her arm,… 'do not do this.' I said, 'Oh my God! Don't worry, I won't.' And I didn't. I snorted heroin for a good 10 years and I did cocaine, but I never injected."

Speaking of how the music business treats its stars Khan said previously, "It's a very lonely existence. You are stuck in hotel rooms. They keep you insulated from the outside world so you perform like a dancing bear."

"This is an ugly ass business," the 58-year-old went on. "All we want to do is sing. We are highly sensitive people; we don't want to feel pain. People are pulling from you and sucking from you. There are so many types of vampire out there."
