when i grow up i want to be cerys matthews
bloody hell, is she still going?
yup alive and well and playing gorgeous tunes on a sunday morning on bbc6
I remember seeing her on the front of the stage (on telly) at Glastonbury, the wind blowing her frock against her, and her belting out her songs...fell in love instantly
catatonia were a bit rubbish, but her solo country album (cockahoop, i think) is very good.
also, she had incredible stage presence when i saw them years ago, despite the songs being crap.
seems to have a decent record collection.
catatonia were sooooooo not rubbish
when was the last time you played way beyond blue?
I got pissed with her once. She was funny as fuck
i'm not sure if i love you anymore, bob.
I would so love to get pissed with Cerys. Unfortunately I would probably descend into a drivelling letch and ruin a perfectly good night
Thankfully a) she was on the other side of the table and b) my boyfriend was sitting next to me. I did spend a lot of time just gazing at her while trying to understand her (at that time) very strong accent (and she kept switching between Welsh and English which didn't help)
I'm just a teeny weeny bit jealous
she's local to mr b's folks and is (allegedly ) exactly as lovely as she comes across
Oh trust me, none of that would matter a jot
I sooo understand where you're coming from
I love her 6Music show, her beautiful, gentle, lilting voice is perfect for a Sunday morning. And she plays some good stuff too.
Cerys Matthews denies banning public school educated artists from radio | Metro News
Won't someone think of the poor public schoolboys. :'(
((coldplay)) ((mumford and sons))
I like Cerys, and she’s just gone up in my estimation.
I love this bit in the article! Out of the mouths of babes, or heat:
“Tory MP Philip Davies [...] told Mail Online: ‘the BBC, which is full of people who come from over-privileged backgrounds.”
One more thumbs up for Cerys
"For the record: I don’t ‘ban’ anyone’s music. Thanks @DailyMailUK for completely missing the point in order to seek cheap headlines . Plus ca change."
Disappointed its not an actual ban.
I am confused here 'cos I thought I read that Ms Matthews went to public school herself.
No. She went to Ysgol Bro Gwaun secondary comprehensive school in Fishguard.
