Cats and stuff

I can't understand why people don't like black cats! Our Snowy was a complete gem – a nutter, a bit of a freak, but utterly loving. She used to climb up your back and insist you bend over so she could go to sleep :p

I thought ginger cats were the least liked in the catdom – that's the impression I've always been given. (Although my little ginger monkey is absolutely beautiful, of course)

I'd like to get more as well, but I don't think my cats would like it. One in particular is very territorial, and she still hasn't really forgiven me for getting her a companion 11 years ago. There's a new cat next door and they spend most of the day growling and hissing at each other.

Are you winding that cat up. Getting poor cat to watch Porridge whilst sitting next to a cage? :hmm:

I was astonished to hear that black cats and black and white cats, are unloved.

Apparently, there is no problem homing ginger cats.

It's a fashion thing, isn't it?

Also, I guess just that the trust have so many black and white ones, because the staircase cats are all related (there is one tabby in amongst the sea of black and white, and one beautiful grey and white one).

I'm not into gingers at all, but one of those black and white cats has fine (and quite unusual) looking markings. And I love the all black fluffy cat:cool:

How long before that stack goes flying?

I know. I was surprised that it was still up when I went in this morning. I knocked it over myself the other day, along with a can of beer (I used to use the top of it as a little table thing). That's why that box set is on the top - I had to dry it out!

Lots of other things had been knocked over during the night, and one of the little ones took a shine to my box of tissues and ripped them into shreds! :D

i would love another cat, how difficult is it to introduce them to existing cats? finn is 7 months now and i should imagine it becomes more difficult the older they get.

i would even consider taking on one of their long term foster ones, i have a garage that is going spare so if i cleared it out i'm sure i could make it nice for them..... maybe i will give them a ring and have a chat with them

You talk to the trust about your needs and stuff, and they identify a cat which would suit. For example, the staircase cats have always been with other cats, so would be very relaxed about other cats. My daughter has an elderly cat, and the trust have suggested that she has two others, who will keep each other company, and not pester the older one too much.

Please do ring them - they are so desperate! They insist on visiting homes before handing over cats, so call them up and arrange for someone to visit, and you can talk it all over with them.

Breadcrumbs - we ate our dinner on our laps in there. You wouldn't be asking, if you knew me at all! :D

None of us wanted to leave the cats alone. They are so friendly and enjoy company so much. Well, until that one did that grossly smelly shit!

Nappy bags are your friend here...saves having to change the litter every 5 minutes :D

Oh they are just gorgeous! I adopted a cat that was born on a farm, so would have been feral or taken to a rescue shelter. He is black with a couple of white toes, and completely mental. :D So yeah, black cats FTW! :D

I just heard a bit of a crash from upstairs, and found one of them up on the shelves in my daughter's old room, surrounded by the debris of photos and ornaments :D

All three of them then started following me around the house! They are so, so friendly, and let me cuddle them, and purr at me, and rub up against my legs when I stand still.

Heh! :D

*subscribes to thread for regular updates* :D

They are all in the dining room with me at the moment. One of them is deciding whether or not to eat the house plants, one is on the table, looking to see what else she can knock over, and the mother is sitting at the patio doors, looking longingly out into the garden.

Awww.:D You've made me want to get another cat now. Must go and butter up my husband......
