Cateye Lights - How shit are they!

I don't know .. my old TL600 rear seems solid enough.
I had to crack it in a vice to get to the insides.

The EL200 front lamp looks like the connections should be a bit unreliable, but once screwed together seems solid enough. I only use it for camping though.

One thing I've come to realise lately is that it's a good idea to replace the LEDs every couple of years - though you have to order them in bags of 50 or so ...

to add a dissenting voice:

used to have a set (about 15 squids for the pair i think) that worked really well- used to use the front one as a torch as well and they survived being dropped innumerable times, rained on loads with no bad effects etc- they seemed like good sturdy lights to me...

The trick with changing the mounting bracket every five minutes to prevent retro-fitting is a disgrace.

I'm in Berlin and just had to buy a pair of cheap front and back LED lights for a mate's bike I'm borrowing, and for 16 euros I'm amazed at the quality of the front LED - fucking retina-burning bright. Must check the manufacturer when I get home.

I've just ordered 60 of probably the brightest 5mm LEDs available to upgrade my lighting.
