Cat flea treatment advice

Shouldn't my cat be done at the same time though? If she still has fleas, they could jump into carpets etc once ive done the whole spraying/hoovering process making it pointless

Well yes of course but nothing is going to drastically change between today and tomorrow. It will take several weeks of diligent cleaning as well as treating the cat to get rid of an infestation anyway, hoovering once is going to do fuck all. Make sure you move all the furniture out of the way and clean under sofas, rugs, behind bookshelves etc as fleas like to hide somewhere dark.

If the shops you need are open today and you can get the stuff then that's great but if you can't get the treatment till tomorrow it isn't the end of the world is the point I'm making.

Ok, cat and flat all treated now. My cat is quite elderly and hasn't reacted that well to the flea stuff though. I'm hoping the effects will wear off :(
Am really hoping this is the end of the fleas.

You'll need to keep up the hoovering regime for a good couple of weeks - hoovering wakes up dormant eggs and encourages them to hatch which will then be killed by the spray you've put down.

If you are able to use a nit/flea comb on your kitty - have a bowl of water handy and squirt a few drops of Tesco Value washing up liquid into the water. You only need to add a little, no bubbles is best so add to the water instead of the other way around....It has to be the really cheap own brand stuff.... 35p job. One you capture a flea using the comb, drop it into the solution and leave it whilst you continue to comb, checking your cats arm pits and under the chin as these seem to be hot spot areas for them.

Not sure why, but whatever is in the washing up liquid kills the little fuckers almost instantly! Highly satisfying and addictive plus my cats love a good grooming session!

(Doesnt have to be tesco washing up liquid of course, wherever you shop is bound to have their own cheap stuff)

All the washing up liquid does is to reduce the surface tension of the water, so that the flea can't stay on the top, but drops to the bottom and drowns. Soap works, too.
