Cat cafe

I'm not an expert by any means but as I understand it cats can actually live together in large groups sharing one space without confrontation. I guess in certain situations there is no such thing as territorial urges.

We once went to this cat sanctuary in the middle of Rome (Plaza Argentina). There must have been at least 100 stray cats living amongst this set of rather important ruins, in the middle of the square. Yet they all share happily the space and some would even share a bench for the afternoon nap quite peacefully.

They establish a pecking order - usually violently IME & there are always a significant number who prefer to do their own wild thing, in ones or twos as well.

A reliable food supply also plays an important part in the establishment of feral colonies - If that fails, competition increases greatly & they very soon fragment to a more sustainable size.

See http://www.romancats.com/ - they look after around 200-300 abandoned cats

I have just asked my Japanese workmate about this and she has never heard of such a thing so it must be a new invention.

She says a rabbit cafe would be better.
