Cat Ballaching

Does Urban reckon that one of these little guys would be better off sat in a sanctuary and then maybe put down, or would they be happier being loved and hugged and petted and fed and watered but being forced to be a house-bound mog for the foreseeable future.

My 2 are housebound Swarfy, known no different, and are perfectly happy :)

We have no garden either

Thing is, there are gazillions of unloved and homeless kittys in Dubai.....

Housecat. Deffo (who says deffo  ). You need to make sure s/he would be kept active, not get bored etc. Lots of things to do, hide food, throw toys at it etc. Make it tents, little hideyholes to, well, hide in. You'll have to do more work than if you had an outsidey cat, but it's worth it.

Many people successfully keep housecats and they lead very happy and content lives if done correctly. Often live longer too because there's less chance of ending up under the wheels of a car.

It's either on Shakespeare Road or Milton Road. When we met him, Hank was a very very friendly cat.....he even climbed on bluestreak's back :D

He is indeed uber-friendly - some might say a bit of a tart. In his younger days he ruled Milton Road with an iron paw. He's getting on a bit now though, and mostly sleeps on beds and eats in various different establishments. :D

^ Cat rescue places are open up and down the country, free moggies all round.

Chez Ms and Mr KBJ has approximately 5 kittens and one very fluffy charcoal black young cat at the moment. Good homes wanted. Photos up on here soon.

My cat Smudge has just moved into Ms KBJ's place along with her cats Miranda and Tripe and the new kitten Fetish. Smudge was always an outdoor cat and occasionally pines to go outside but is settling down OK with the others. She could go outside into the big cat pen outside but she is a little scared of my partners housmates cats cos they spit and snarl at her. We have a total of 15 cats in the house at the moment. Meow! :)

Oi! I say deffo - all the time - what's wrong wi that like?

Oh, I dunno about the extra work involved - I bought ours a kitty gym but they only use it to spring off and attack each other from. Tons of toys that don't get used, just one each that they obsess over, and they find plenty enough fun climbing curtains, jumping from curtain poles, climbing clothes on the clothes rails ( ), playing guitar, eating herbs and owt left in the kitchen, chasing flies etc...and of course, sleeping :)

I would say get 2 though, if they innies, cos they play/fight together then

Ah, I see - I thought lil was a permanent fixture

Good luck with the err..hive mind

I like to torment my cat too - I'm covered in scars from when I've pushed her a bit toooo far - tickle-tickle-tickle-SCRATCH!!!!

Bit like soj's - me and my boyfriend like to wave our hand in the air til she looks up, then tickle her under the chin.

We've got a whole little routine at the moment about 'incurring the wrath of the cat-god'. She'll come and stomp into the room, give us an evil look and moody 'miaow' and just sit their staring at us (this generally means we've left out some diet biscuits and she ain't happy). And then we say 'cat-god have we angered you?' and then we worship the cat-god by picking her up and tickling her which she HATES.

sorry, the hive mind is what we call teh house that zora, boohoo, gergl and i occupy. because it's a monothought clique.

ohmygod please get a cat bluestreak!!!

I could be Auntie SubZero to the cats. I'd bring them prawns and chicken and knit them booties and take them out for walks (in a pram)

:D

He made me pasta with Chinese sweet and sour sauce once :(

((((bluestreak's cooking skillz))))

Nothing wrong with sweet and sour with pasta. Just chaning one carb (rice) for another one (pasta).

Curry and pasta shells goes well as well.

Gwan get some cats. Cats are lovely.

CHeers Soj and VP - reckon I will look into it......

Not sure about the pet rules for the apartment though!

Philistine!

I like teasing my cat too - like making her wait outside until she does a jumping dance to get my attention.
And moving my toes under the duvet gets her excited too.

Actually it wasn't that bad. Although I was starving....

Please get a cat bluestreak :)

I almost forgot my current favourite ballache technique.

Buggerbooing.

The name comes from an "animal" in an xbox game.

Thats the buggerboo on the right. When he walks he looks just like a cat does when you put your hand under the cats belly and then lift the cat up so it has to walk on it's tip toes.

Buggerboo the fooker is what I say.

like gently touching the hairs in their ears till it makes the cat flick it's ear.

If I do that to my dog he moves his head towards your finger, has a good root about then licks the earwax off your finger.

My eldest cat used to have an indoor climbing frame, you could play the paws game with him but it would not be long until he was drawing blood....

The twitching ear game is great

Scratching them at the base of the spine, slightly to the left or right to get one of the hind legs going like thumper the rabbit...

We have the pc hooked up to the telly, so playing with the mouse is a good game too.

My ginger one if you circle his face with one finger he'll keep trying to chew your finger off.

I can't resist the little tufts of white fur sticking out between Radar's paw pads and when he's stretched out asleep along the top of the sofa I have to stroke the little tufts and he twitches his paws and glares at me. :o

It's not possible to annoy Sonic as he's so sweet and affectionate that whatever you do to him he just purrs loudly and headbuts you, lapping up the attention. Although when he was little I sometimes used to put the tip of his tail in front of his face and wiggle it so he would pounce on it and then chase it around in circles :o :o

Neither of my cats have ever stepped foot outdoors and they are both very happy, we do play with them a lot (their favourite game is fetch) to keep them entertained and exercised.

I just discovered some new kittens before going to lunch today They can't be more than 4 days old. Will be back with a camera soon! :)
