WATCH OUT, GEORGE, HE'S GOT A SCREWDRIVER!
...as in, tonight

"kirsty wark talks to the cast and crew of one of britain's best movies. helen mirren and bob hoskins recall the film's making and its controversail release."

Have you seen this film recently? It's not aged well. :(

It feels like an episode of The Sweeney, but without John Thaw.

Look out for a teenie Pierce Brosnan though.

What grammar?

There's no character development and the camerawork is, well let's say, formulaic.

The script is a barking dog.

Has it aged as well as say 'Get Carter'? No.

But don't take my word for it, as I have these things on a DVD.

Let's have a gangster night at Hendo's Lair.

PM me and we'll sort a date when we can evaluate these films properly.

it's a back-to-basics tragedy, following an arc of inevitability: harold is trying to escape his fate, but we the audience know he cannot. he is caught between a new world and old; he is trying to escape himself, to become the 'legitimate businessman', but never will he not be doomed, violent, impulsive harold shand, gangland boss.

his desires, his avarice and his man-beast hardwiring, whilst all helping him to attain the trappings of his dreams, also conspire to trap him within the nightmare from which he wants to escape.

a gangster night sounds a fine idea as well :D
