Cartoons that were, in retrospect, absolute shite

i concur on the non cartoon criticism you make though it is animation

Hmmm...since when was puppetry classified as animation? I know there was an animated Fraggle Rock, and it was shite, but the real thing was a Jim Henson puppet jobby.

Trap Door is a work of genius, and one of my favourite animated shows of all time.

I have also just remembered another one - The Dreamstone. Generally the stories were a bit crap, but they had ace incompetent bad guys, the Urpneys. Comedy gold cockney sgt major, and a completely insane scientist called Urpgor...VERY funny...

"Lassie's Rescue Rangers" was a pile of crap - finally found it on YouTube a while ago and the animation is shockingly bad. Ditto all the cartoons that appeared on "The Banana Splits"

I was a Dreamstone fan. Got in trouble for spilling a silver pen all over a VHS tape I was decorating with the titular gem. They do have some nifty bad guys, and it's nice to see another British cartoon appear.

Along the same theme, Potsworth & Co ... doesn't stand up so well. Another Hanna-Barbera entry. (Although definitely venial in their pantheon of sins ... surely Valley of the Dionsaurs is their nadir?)

Talking of themes, Potsworth & Co was called Midnight Patrol: Adventures in the Dream Zone in the USA, and the title music had different lyrics. Show was equally poor.

Another contender: Ducktales. Great theme, lousy show. Good animation, mind.

Not a cartoon but Star Fleet is out on DVD this month. I have been waiting for this release since 1982. Well since 1982 I have waiting for a repeat (which never happened).

First time I ever saw loads of spaceships join up to make a giant robot.

I bet it's just shit. A crazy world where the safety of earth is in the hands of EDF???!!!

Was Ducktales the one with Scrooge McDuck? I loved those and Chip&Dale's Resuce Rangers...
Yeah, that's the one. I loved it at the time, but now I can't stop myself thinking, "They've gutted Carl Barks' cartoons!" Poor old Scrooge goes from capitalist robber-baron to loveable old uncle.

Remember the movie?

Chin & Dale's Rescue Rangers still holds up very well, & you've got to love that theme.

Star Fleet? As in:

Send a message out across the sky
Alien raiders just passed *something indistinct*
Who will come and save us now
Who can defend us from their pow-er?

STAR FLEET!
Star Fleet
STAR FLEET
Star Fleet

With the X-Bomber? And Dai X?

You'll love this AS:

Been there before, that site is almost as old as the internet. They must be creaming themselves now it is happening. It has only just occurred to me that in the job I just left I would have had access to the broadcast masters.

I always meant to get 'luna' and 'Kinvig' out as well although the later has now been put out on DVD and in retrospect was total shit.
