I don't really know them tbh. But I know one song - Lean On Me I Won't Fall Over was very helpful to me when I was quitting drinking and I still like it a lot.

That song is one of the constants on my desert island discs list.

Jim Bob is playing out this autumn. He’s got a full band and he plays old Carter stuff and also his new stuff. Saw him on the last tour and it was pretty good. The old Carter stuff is a nice bit of nostalgia and it’s good to hear the old songs played by a band but his new stuff is also pretty good. Some of it is clever-whimsy but the good stuff is really good. Angelstrike is, I think, I beautiful gorgeous heartbreaking song (although quite old now I suppose).

Abdoujaparov are really good now too. At last. I think they suffered from not having a regular band, always swapping and switching. But they’ve grown up to be a solid pub rock outfit and they rock pretty hard. I guess pub rock was always the foundational stone of Les‘ contribution to Carter.

I didn’t dislike them at the time, but thought them pretty inconsequential. I never considered buying any of their stuff. Can’t imagine it has aged well.

100% agree with this, they are much better now they've got a regular outfit.

Hopefully Abdoujaparov will be gigging more regularly now Les Carter has left Ferocious Dog?

Yes, he’s actively looking to do more touring now.

From his Facebook page

After a few decades of sitting back and just waiting for gigs to be offered we have decided to change tack and put it out there that myself and Abdoujaparov are ready to be booked for gigs and festivals for 2023.

If you are a booker for live music please consider us for your line-ups. We don’t have an agent, just little me at the end of an email or message on Facebook.

If you don’t know what we sound like, you can look us up on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and most other streaming services.

Cheers for reading,

Les x
