Carshalton away 21-4-25 last away of the season

The question is what will it take to keep Wanadio? We’re not privy to the inner workings of his contract position but I’m sure a player with a 20+ goal return at a struggling club would interest many other clubs with an eye on promotion at this level and others higher up.

As much as there are players I feel could be kept for next season, the shit we have suffered over last few years I'm happy to see all of them ditched from top to bottom and start again.

The board have to ask themselves what they bring to our wonderful football club and if they are not fit for purpose they need to stand down and get off their ego trip.

We are actually in a good position and need to move forward collectively.

Without some of those board members, there wouldn't be a club today. (There's a slight possibility we'd be an amateur side playing step five or six at Fisher but without the Mishi/Liam/Ben driven /funded revival there's no way we'd still have a ground. )

Is it unacceptable currently? Yes. Have some of the board members earned the right to be given the opportunity to turn it round? Yes. Should the entire board step down when the ground redevelopment which is crucial to the future of the club hangs in the balance? Absolutely not.

If the ground deal collapses where we are is nothing to where we could end up.

The team needs fresh blood as does the board but unlike the team which needs a complete overhaul, the board needs that blood to enhance what is already there. From a personal POV it needs members with a different view of the non league game who might have the contacts and influence to persuade the sort of players the club needs to get back on the right track in the league.

Happy to ‘stand down’from my ‘ego trip’ anytime if you or others want to boost their ego instead.

What about the stadium? Who’s going to take that on if Ben decides to end his ‘ego trip’?

How will this help the team improve?

Please name those who should ‘stand down’ if you have individuals in mind.

Average age of our top ten appearance makers this season is 32. Last time we got promoted it was 28. The profile of the squad this year was all wrong, keeping the core of it together won’t change that.

I’d probably keep Wanadio, maybe Wynter and Jeffrey on the hope they could stay fit. Mason can cover a number of positions. Mills, if he could move into a player/coach role. That’s probably it.
I'd probably keep Chambers too, because he plays his guts out every match - and it's not his fault he has no backup around him - yes JB I'm looking at you

Only as the centre of a back 3 with support like Wynter and Mason provide; otherwise he’s a liability.

Chambers has played 90% plus games over the last two seasons, during which time we’ve shipped over 160 goals. He’s of course not solely at fault for that, but he’s been the consistent component of a defence that has been way below the standard for this level.

But more than that, I don’t think you could say he’s taken the defence by the scruff of the neck during that time, and been the leader to turn things around - which is not to say he hasn’t been giving it everything, I just don’t think his maximum is good enough to be part of a defence that gets you promoted.

In that time how many other defenders has he played alongside of, how many goalkeepers has he played in front of and how many different defensive formations have we had? Maybe the lack of consistency has played more than a small part?

Maybe. Maybe not. Is it worth another season trying to find out?

There isn’t a single player who deserves to stay at the club for next season, even big names like Wanadio and Mills have consistently underperformed for the majority of the season. Whether we want to go through the process of building a new squad from scratch is another question. Quinton certainly has not done enough to stay in the job. We stayed up because the teams below us were somehow even worse, not because of any great change that Quinton made. Big decisions for the club to make in the next week or so.

Yeh only going off results and the very infrequent highlights, but I don't think Quinton has done enough to warrant another crack. The Hanwell and Bognor results are stinkers.

Peter Adeniyi is the clear choice, IMO. South London based, knows the club inside out, very bright chap. I'd like to see what he could do with training three times a week, too, because I assume he's only got two nights a week at Carshalton. Only trouble is I don't know why he'd leave Carshalton to join us. He's settled there, liked by club and supporters, has a youth setup (!!!), and a squad that he's built over a number of years.

I think its between him and McKimm.. Both proving themselves well with local talent and with Hamlet connections.....whether they want to come ..

Can't take anything away from what McKimm's done at CVPM - they've had an incredible season - but his sides at Tonbridge were very route one, and it didn't work out at Carshalton either. Maybe he's developed as a manager, but I'd be wary of going after him, personally.

But like you say: it's whether they'd actually be tempted to join!

You could say exactly the same of Adeniyi's near disastrous season at Merstham, who only survived returning to the Combined Counties League 2 years ago by winning a relegation play-off against Egham.

Personally I'll worry about our next manager when I know we actually have a vacancy, but these are both typical "supporters' picks", i.e. ex-players who've built a "credit balance" managing other clubs for several years. There will be people we're probably unaware of, possibly working as coaches or academy managers at higher level clubs, who may have all the right credentials.

Regarding the age demographic of our current squad (mentioned earlier in the thread) the most injury prone players this season seem to have been the younger ones: German, Hand, Ramsay, Hudson, Ross Marshall. (That's potentially a complete compatible back four that avoids the lack of pace and mobility associated with Chambers and JBW.)

The current manager has recruited 8 players since his arrival: AWB, Mason, Bremang, Kaunda, Adepoju, A.Krasniqi, Berry, Marigliani, all of whom are aged 19-25. Whether you think he's done enough or not, he inherited a mess and has demonstrated a clear intent to refresh the squad with younger players.

P.S. Steve King was at our game on Saturday!

Both McKimm and Adeniyi are at clubs with wealthy “benefactors”, who can almost certainly give them a bigger budget than Dulwich apparently have. Would the club currently be able to put together the sort of package that would attract either of them?

He’s very hands on down there. Remember when I went for a trial with their newly formed women’s team he was down there introducing himself to all the players. I’m not sure what would persuade him to move to Champion Hill. Also wondering if he’d put himself forward post Gavin and been passed over in favour of the managers that were employed?
