Carpentry course

When they allocate the places they will be much more likely to choose someone who was enthusiastic and loved the smell :D than a young bloke who was only there because his mum forced him along and didn't really give two shits if truth be known.

yep, i agree with stig

half the work is getting noticed and it sounds like you've done that :D

i reckon sheo's a shoe-in

I'd be up for doing this too, I need to do some refitting that doesn't look too rubbish.

Do you want to go for doing the same course? that would be brilliant.

I really like the idea of being able to egg each other on, share spare wood, tools, space, ideas and enthusiasm.

Obviously if it was sheo it would be just the ideas and enthusiasm. Unless she lived in Tottenham or on a good bus route. ;) (It's ok, bus drivers love me, and I have a trolley) :D

I would accept you if it was down to me Sheo, judging by your responses.

If the guys didnt say anything like that, why not?

I would have :o:D

Yes yes yes!

Oh there's one in Tottenham for £200, but it's carpentry and joinery, same as sheo is doing. Still... might be good!
There's a restoration one but it's in bloody richmond.

Still looking...

Mine is in Brighton, so - assuming I even get in -you're safe! :p

I really dithered between plumping for the site carpentry and joinery one and the bench joinery one (which they say has a very small intake) but I think the fact that I can barely use a saw  pushed me towards the former, cos it was a two year course that accounted for twats like me and has a few weeks on learnng to use tools.... :o and just seems like a bit more of an all rounder iykwim... :hmm:

Aw go on though Stig and pm! We can compare bad sawing jobs (I'm off to the ex's tomorrow to practice sawing, cos I've just realised that I'm so bad that I'd be embarrassed to turn up to even the most basic carpentry course)! :D

Btw mine would be £600 if I wasn't on bens....but I have to find anothere £175 for materials and then £40/£30/£20-is for various registration/exam fees etc, but there's an adult learning grant (I think that's what they called it :hmm: ) that may or may not cover those expenses....but would be as relevant to you as to me if you'd struggle to pay the costs, so I wouldn't let the cost put you off applying iyswim! :)

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand I'm in! :hmm: :D

Gotta find another £200+ on top of the £600 fees that'll definitely be paid because I'm on IS, but will manage with a bit of time (I have to enrol in the next two weeks, but the letter seemed to suggest that you can pay what you owe in bits and pieces...so I'll either do that, or tap my mum for a loan :p :D ).

Anyway - will no doubt be shitting myself all over again when I actually have to start heh heh, but I'm gonna give it my best shot!

Well done girl!!!:cool::cool:

Soon there will be bits of wood and unfinished projects everywhere.........
(says she whose OH is a carpenter)

Thanks all! Heh heh!!!

It's actually a further £280 a year (on top of the £600 that I definitely don't have to pay)...which is a bit  ...but today I went and paid the minimum 25% of that to enrol and applied for financial assistance.

I am Priority Band 1 apparently, but I'm also a bit late to get my funding application in  so may have to find another £70 in each of Sep, Oct and Nov...but never mind, can't complain tbf <withdraws pocket money :p >...but now I'm just doubting I've done the right thing etc  but that's nerves more than anything I reckon.

Will keep ya posted! :hmm:

I'm starting tomorrow....<gulp> :hmm:

I got my funding too, so only had to pay £26 registration (which means I'll get a £45 refund in November)!

I'm a bit embarrassed that I can't even use a saw properly though. :D

I bet all the boys can use a saw!

first day at school  I remember when you were only little :)

good luck sheo, anyone gives you any shit for your sawing skills chop their little finger off

They've got lots of big machines!

Maybe I could secretly turn one on and drag them over and quickly chop it off? :hmm:

Except that I don't know how to turn them on  and anyway, they're scary! :(

Could I not just stay at home with you Mummy? Spend the day nuzzling your lovely warm boobies? :(
