whenever i worked in a restaurant or caff staff got a free meal when they were working, anything they wanted, so 1/3 off doesn't sound that great.

I'm sure they get free meals while they're working too. What I mean though is that you can come with a friend out of hours and get a third off everything.

And he genuinely does seem to love working there.
