Cardiff: if we don't win today, we're dooooomed!

And, getting back on topic again, I've posted up my tale of woe from the match here:

(thanks to Sparky for sorting out the tickets)

Jesus! Sounds like the worst kind of torture imaginable. Bloody QPR!

One point from the drop zone - a win against Gillingham is essential, but can't be guaranteed. I'll be there, with my little pick and shovel :(

It was grim. And the bloke sat next to me seemed to have some sort of football Tourette's, regularly leaping up to abuse Cardiff players, their fans and all things Welsh.

On topic: Cardiff looked terrible at the weekend...not much in attack and the goal was due to a lack of anyone closing players down.

Not that Wolves are much better....but we've showed signs of promise. Bit too late for this season - oh well roll on the 2005/06 season  :(

Not one shot on goal!

Thorne is rushing back from injury - which means he'll get injured easier and be out longer, and I can't see ( By the rivers of ) Gabbidon staying in January now, and why should he?
I don't think anyone would wish him ill will if he went.
Thank fuck for Ritherham, Gillingham and Forest ( although I can see Forest pulling above us ).

Bollocks to season tickets! :(

Have to say this season Division 1 looks pretty poor - there's a few good sides but whoever goes up you can see them plummeting back down very quickly - Wigan in the Premiership...can't see them doing well. At the other end I can see Gillingham going down, Rotherham..think Forest will survive.

Very, very tight in mid table...i pray we can "do a Palace" but unless we get a decent manager I can't see us getting close.

Clubs are really feeling the pinch - I doubt we'll buy anyone and our squad is tiny. Most teams need to develop young players and hope bigger clubs take them off their hands for a couple of million.

Ever since Earnie went our strike force has been woefully lacking and if Gabbidon wasn't at the back, we'd be doing even worse.

To be honest, QPR only just scraped the win and there certainly wasn't an immense gulf between the two teams, but our lack of fire-power up front means we're going to find it nigh on impossible to get results against half decent defences.

I can't say I'm too inspired with Lawrence's laid back approach either... where was the passion on Saturday?

Agreed. Have a Sheff Utd mate who says that all you need is two decent strikers to get out of this league.

Wigan have that and they are top - but since one of their strike duo has been injured.........they have stuttered.

definitely quite weak. We're top and we've got basically 15 first team players, many of whom are frankly pretty awful. Frankly I'm often bewildered by how well we're doing.

If we don't get a result against the woeful Gillingham then the gaffer is out! Oh how it seems like an eternity ago watching us pummel 5 past them & seeing the look of dispair on my mates face through the fence of the grange-end. :(

Editor, i feel your pain. I watched us play Coventry last season mixed in with the home fans. I wasn't sure which was worse, being surrounded by joyful fans when they went 1 up. Or having to sit dead still while my head detonated with joy when we proceeded to make it 1-3. Never again!

I'm just wondering if any of those on here that think Forest will survive have actually seen them play this season? I'm a season-ticket holder there and I can quite safely assure all of you that Forest are second-bottom on merit. The players are individually good enough for this division but as a team they just can't do anything together, even with the most creative player in the whole division running the left wing and potentially the best defender in the division wearing the number 5 shirt. There's seemingly no team spirit, no confidence and a manager who allegedly spends all his hours sat in his office. Its a great time to be a sheep supporter.

If its any use to the Cardiff/Crewe/Brighton fans using this board, I only think you have Gillingham to worry about cos us n Rotherham look doomed

QPR didn't even have to get out of 2nd gear cardiff were that bad.
Right. And that'll be why they managed just the one goal then?

Your opinion certainly wasn't shared by the the QPR fans I was with, either. You deserved to win, but it was hardly a walkover.

It was in my book. your view isn't the one I saw on Cardiff msgboards or from any QPR fan I know or any newspaper......

The result doesn't tell the story at all. we created enough chances, sometimes (like v Burnley) it happens sometimes it doesn't. It wasn't a vintage performance but we were better than 1-0.

I have to say I thought Forest were doomed the moment you employed Kinnear, first rate tosser in my opinion !! All talk one minute and in the next breath he refuuses to speak to the press. As a Stokie my bitter , twisted nature hopes they go down and take JK & Kris Commons  with them, no hard feelings though bfg !! :p
Since Rotherham are already doomed let's hope Forest join them along with Crewe. I don't want Cardiff to go down for Thorney's sake !!

Well, yes.

But (he says desperately!) if you put the last two visits form Cardiff together we're still 4-1 up!

Shame you couldn't make it to the game - you were missed!

Rollem, I wasn't with Mike at the game, but my view from the away end was that you did us nice and easy, I was well impressed with Shittu and to a lesser extent Santos, and Lee Cook looked a tricky left winger, liked him, though he's so one-footed he could easy just run round in circles

I am a City season ticket holder in London and we have Gillingham at home tomorrow, christ it is going to be grim!!

Rollem big up the superhoops, we had a lovely 8 hours in a pub in Brook Green before and after the game. Now that's something we ARE good at!

Dread, see you soon, we're down mate unless the kids (and Neil Harris) sort us
Rollem, respect

Fuckin' hell, we actually won a game yesterday!

Of course I've seen this all before - Forest always do exactly the same as
england do...look good for one game just to get your hopes up that they might not totally fuck up.....and then totally fuck up. :(

Have faith bfg. not sure in what tho - certainly not fucking Kinnear.

Matt

Yes, 1 win at home, but QPR looked very ordinary to be honest. Still have little faith. The next 2 games are the biggest grudge matches n tho the sheep n the chissits aren't anything to shout about themselves I don't see many points coming from playing them. Could have done with Cardiff n Gillingham drawing yesterday to be honest.

hard-earned point against an in-form Crewe side for us. Should have been 3 though, had a cartload of chances after we got the equaliser.

Good win for city yesterday against (as i said earlier in the thread) a dire gillingham side! Still plenty of room for improvement however!

Was on the Bob Bank to see us put paid to the Gills. They are indisputably headed for relegation, and looked patently shite. What struck me about Cardiff (who were decidedly ordinary throughout) was the palpable lack of confidence. As soon as the Gills to the game to them they looked terrified. The defence, and Collins in particular, were at times shambolic, and seem to find it particularly tricky to clear their own lines (strange given their love of hoofing the ball very hard towards the front when attempting to set up attacking moves).

Whether the Bloobirds will go down this season remains to be seen, and I can't say that Saturday's performance laid anything to rest in terms of assuaging my fears. They have a long hard season ahead of them, and the only thing that can pull them through is a team ethic and self-belief, neither of which seemed particularly in evidence yesterday. Thank god for Peter Thorne - shine on, magic hat!

How the fuck did QPR lose to lowly, rubbish Notts Forest yesterday?
If they'd beaten them it would have made things a lot more comfortable for City.

Still, I told you they weren't that good! ;)

Well, from what I saw QPR had little going on upfront and the centrebacks were havin a nitemare, givin away a unnecessary penalty and lettin blokes half their size outjump them in the air (that brickshittu guy shouldn't be losing aerial battles to Johnson and Lester). Their better players were the keeper and the wingers, but they both got subbed so they could lump it for the last half an hour. The rest of the team made us look good.

Was quite surprised by the result, Forest have been doing OK against the highfliers but cocking up against the gillinghams n Brightons of this world, so made a nice change

Sounds like Joe 'any excuse' Royle has turned up ! :p
Saturday seemed like an ex-Stokies score-fest what with with Thorney and Pesch getting in on the action ! A very satisfying win for us at Watford though !! :D
