Cardiff City: PenaltyWatch

We're only getting so many penalties because we play such attacking football and are always getting the ball into the box - as opposed to shoving our elbows in the faces of the opposition.

Besides, we're scoring goals all over the place without penalties too

Well fuck me sideways, 7 already this season

You're in danger of breaking your own (dodgy) record bluebirds :D

Of course those are just the ones that are given. The taffys are quite happy to shout for a penalty whenever they are within a mile of the box

Truly the way the game should be played

If we could also count the penalties we deserved to get but didn't because of dodgy refereeing we'd probably be on double that 7 figure.

Like the one where a Palace player bodily threw his whole self at the back of a Cardiff player's legs because he was through on goal. How he never got red carded i'll never know but no action taken at all. Farce!

Seriously, we are getting so many penalties because its all defences can do to try and stop us scoring in open play.

It will slow down in the final half of the season when DJ switches from his winning offensive tactics to his losing defensive tactics which he always does for some bizarre failed logic reason.

There were 3 good shouts for a pen against Palace. One on Ross when he was just about to pull th trigger and got pushed in the back, an elbow on Ledley and another on Ledley at the end when he took a swinging kick in the stomach from behind while facing a virtually open goal, and the fact that Palace were lcuky to finish with 9 men let alone 11.

5 or 6 players got sent off last season for fouls on Xabi Alonso. Coincidence or not?

City get a lot of penalties because they attack relentlessly and most Championship defenders are inept in their challenges. Nuff said.

Thread fail.

And they say Warnock likes a moan about the ref's ?

He's got nothing on you Cardiff lot :D

We've a lot to moan about due to the English Welsh bias of many refs.

Dave Jones keeps moaning that the standard of refs ain't good enough anymore but I can see no change. Dave has just never managed a Welsh team before and been on the recieving end of the bias.

Thing is, the penalty on saturday was probably the only one we've had this season that had any bearing on the result. Take our 6 penalties off us and we'd still be the 2nd highest scorers in the league.

For the record: Cardiff penalties this season so far.

Scunthorpe.Won 4-0
Dag&Red.(LC).Won 3-1
Plymouth.Won 3-1
Sheff Wed.Lost 3-1
Watford.Won 4-0
Coventry.Won 2-0
Scummers.Won 4-3

Bias ? Give me strength  You even have your own FA that you answer to. How the fuck you get away with that when you're merely tourists in an English League I will never know. Different rules for Cardiff City, no wonder the players are so keen to take a tumble. :D

The FAW rarely support Cardiff. They hardly ever overturn a card given against Cardiff. Bout 3 times in my lifetime. They like getting the fines money as it's all they see from the BRITISH League.

Dave Jones has a number of times said he'd like to be in the FA and I tend to agree. Cause the FAW are slow, shite and afraid of the FA.

Yes. Really hope you and QPR come up this season to the prem :)

Cardiff's divers got another one tonight. Chopra evidently dived making it appear to the ref that Scott Carson had head butted him. The ref was completely taken in and sent Carson off and gave the spot kick!!

And justice was served as Whitts had his penalty deservedly saved.

unfortunately for fate he did score on the follow up though

Damn you got to this thread before I could update it :D

Good to see you lot end your penalty drought.

Cardiff City ended their 52-year league Hawthorns hoodoo in controversial fashion.

Chopra had clipped Carson when the Cardiff striker attempted to convert Burke's 82nd minute cross but the former Liverpool and Aston Villa stopper planted his head into Chopra's face when the ball had been cleared.

Marek Cech was sacrificed by Baggies boss Di Matteo so Kiely could come on after Carson's moment of madness but to add insult to injury for West Brom, Taylor awarded the spot-kick to the amazement of the home side.

For completeness thought I'd better just log the fact that we should have had a penalty yesterday against Boro, when jay Bothroyd was clearly pushed over in the box whilst attempting to get on the end of Burke's free kick. The goalkeeper obviously agreed, but as the ref was a bit slow in awarding it did the right thing and let the free kick go in unchallenged!!

I'd have been surprised if the ref would have awarded the pen.

Not cause it wasn't a pen but because they all seem to be afraid to give us anything after the number of pens we got last season.
