Cardiff City get Robbie Fowler!

Potentially a brilliant signing, if he can be bothered. That's just the problem though; statements from the player's agent have made it clear that RF is going to Ninian Park for financial reasons only - one last decent salary before retirement.
That was a funny old statement, the words in it are directly opposed to what Fowler has actually done

Fowler's agent said:
"It is really a battle between money and quality of life and believe me, quality of life counts for a lot of money. All the money in the world is not going to buy your family's happiness."

So quality of life counts for a lot of money, and all the money in the world is not going to buy your family's happiness.

So tell me again why he turned down the Aussies ?

Sydney FC had hoped to lure Fowler, and the former England striker was impressed with the set up after travelling to Australia for talks.

But his representative George Scott revealed Sydney were unable to compete financially with the other offers for Fowler.

"The only thing against them is that Robbie is a Premiership player and he is used to Premiership money," said Scott.

"The Premiership is unique in terms of the crazy money it generates and there is nothing in the world that replicates it, not even Spain. That money is well beyond Sydney and the Australian league and we know that.

Your quote is selectively lifted from the above. From the end, to be precise.

Sunday Mirror:

A close friend of Fowler said: "Robbie could have gone to other clubs for more money. At least a couple of Premiership clubs were interested. But he needed something to give him that spark after leaving Liverpool for the second time in the summer. And Cardiff appeals most to him."

The point remains that his agent's statement was big upping quality of life over money. If the setup in Auz was so good it's strange he didn't want to play over there, unless money was the deciding factor.

Which shows the spin for what it is :(

Anyhow, I hope Robbie has a decent last season.

I'm pretty sure Robbie doesn't even need the money, he apparently has a property empire up in Liverpool worth millions. I think maybe it had more to do with the agent wanting to get one last decent pay check.

Anyway I hope he stays fit and has a bit of a swansong firing Cardiff into the premiership.

hes a fuckin great player... cant believe he chose cardiff over sydney tho!

Probably doesn't want to move his kid's?

I don't think he even moved away from Liverpool when he played @ Leeds or Man City did he?

I hope he does well for you, too. On a good day he's a fucking unreal player.

I'm glad he's gone to a team I like.
