Cardiff City 2005-6 thread

I'm pissed off with Cardiff.. last season they got the PFA to pay some of their players wages (something Leicester never got, depsite being in administration) yet this season they can afford to buy two players.. hmm, something not quite right. Also claims of fiddled attendances. I'm getting word of a big FA investigation. Hope for the fans this isn't the case.
You got fuckin promoted cos of it so no idea what you've got to complain about fuckin cheat!

we got promoted despite it you ignorant cock.... how many times do I have to explain this to you, but you still just follow the boring tabloid views of Neil Warnock?

it's almost perversely enjoyable ;)

You didn't have to sell any players cos you had your bank accounts wiped! You got a fucking new stadium for free to boot as well!

*Minces into the fracas*

Boyd came down for a medical, discussed personal terms and then fucked off back to Scotland saying that he didn't want to sign. They obviously gave him a 'Welsh Burger' from the Spar Family stand burger van - enough to make anyone git the fuck oot.

Further - Riordan is not exactly champing at the bit either.

Sigh! Still no striker

We sold £9m worth of players.. christ, it's like feeding a retarded northern baby

Looking forward to it, I still see Wolves as one of the big teams.

Intersting in the paper tonight that Hoddle has followed Jones out of two jobs now, so I'll be watching the dugouts.

Should we put money on Hoddle being the next manager of city then?
Christ that would be a black day! :(

Must have been a bit of a black day today, can't think of anything more depressing than giving up a 2-goal lead at home with the equalizer coming in the last minute. We're doomed, I tell you, doomed!

Who did you sell for £9 million?! And were these your best players?!

I don't remember posting that retarded comment, must have been pissed, sorry mate :o

We sold Savage for £3m, Rowett for £3m, Arnar Gunnlaugsson was released, Lee Marshall £700k, Matt Piper for £3.5m, Dennis Wise was sacked, Damien Delaney £500k.

We also agreed a £9m fee with Boro for Izzett but he didn't wanna go.

Elliott and Flowers were listed, but no-one came in for them.

We went most of the reason with a reserve keeper.

So yeah, nearly £11m worth of players, so don't fucking tell me we had it easy.. you don't have a clue, you just listened to the usual uneducated crap spouted by Warnock and some rival chairmen.. pays to look at the facts sometimes.

Riordan won't be coming to City.

Our board are absolutely desperate for him to go. £1 million for a player who came throught the youth side is too good to ignore. He has 18 months left on his contract which means he can sight a pre-contract in April. Having lost Ian Murray to Rangers on a free the board don't fancy a repeat. Hence he was dropped on Saturday against the huns when we won 3-0.

But Riordan himself doesn't want to go. For one thing he reckons (or at least his agent has told him) that he can do better. Make of that what you will, bluebirds, but don't shoot the messenger. For another, he knows he will be more attractive to clubs leaving for free than if he comes with a price tag. So even though he could probably quadruple his wages at Cardiff he's happy to sit it out. This has dire long-term implications for clubs like us who aim to rear players from the youth side and make our money by selling them on.

Is he worth it? Well, I'd like him to sign an extension for us. 44 goals in two seasons is something you can't put a price on. He's a proper Leith boy and his family are all hibees. But I think it is worth mentioning that, as well as being physically slight (the main reason, whatever anyone tells you, why we've played a on-the-floor passing game), he has still to fully prove himself - none of those goals were against Rangers or Celtic.

It's all history now anyway. Having turned us down I can't exactly see us going in with a better offer for him. He can fuck off and wait for 'better' clubs to come in for him, but he might be waiting a long, long time as I didn't notice any rivals for our affections popping up as his agent unashamedly touted him around.

It now looks like we're going in for that King fella who's at Watford, Nathan Tyson from Wycombe and an as yet undisclosed player from the Premiership. Hope is's Earnie

Is he any good in the air?

Not especially. He's 5'10" and in need of some chocolate biscuits, so tends not to win battles up there. He is, however, fantastic on the floor, has a great first touch, and recieves balls from midfield (sliding it from one foot to the other before shooting to confuse defenders) more fluidly than anyone else in the SPL. As a result we play a passing game to keep it low, although he is paired with big Gary O'Connor if some hoofing is needed.

Bendus - the problem is Celtic made two offers for him which were turned down by the board. In April he can sign a pre-contract. I personally reckon he'd be much better off going to Cardiff, as Scots youngsters have a habit of rotting on Old Firm benches, but he'll be thinking of champion's league football and little else (going out in the qualifying round, of course).

Bring on Leicester!

A mini un beaten streak is how our manager describes wasting six points over the last three games.

Still.

Up the City!

You're at our place at the end of the month so you may as well enjoy the points while you can still get 'em !! :p

Sixth & climbing with the International Potters !!

Woohoo! Another win (Cardiff 1 Palace 0) making us unbeaten in *five* games - and we're in the top half of the table!

Bloooooobirds! :)

Yes, its looking pretty good now, Jerome is the new Earnie, and we've got Ricketts until Christmas. The play-offs beckon. Only 11,000 in attendence though, if you can believe the offical figures. I'm looking forward to the Luton game, its the first one I'll be getting to this season....

From 20th to 12th in seven days is great. City are looking pretty solid at home and Ricketts has proved to be a great signing already. If he continues like this hopefully the loan period can be extended.

Watch the Bluebirds fly!

Unfortunately, if he continues like this, Leeds will recall him sharpish. I think he's on a four-month contract though, so hopefully he'll get a few more goals by Christmas and see us safe before he leaves.
