Car insurance

Personally I think it's right that insurance premiums are high for teenage drivers.

My sister who is 17, had to pay £950 for third party on a £500 fiesta, the bastartds wouldn't let her pay by direct debit either cos she is 17.

She had to borrow all the money to pay up front and pay it back to my mum on a monthly basis.

Car Insurance is a joke!

Not the companies fault that they can't give credit to 17 year olds

Do you have to have the 2.0 litre car? Selling and getting a little runaround will bring that down bigtime.

Stating the obvious perhaps?

Yeah, I'll just sell the car I bought a fortnight ago.

You know, I'd never thought that a smaller car would have lower insurance.

Twat.

Depends on the car. Smaller cars popular with thieves or the modding crowd can be just about as bad to insure as a larger but less popular make/type of car.

Admiral gave me a quote £300-400 cheaper than any of the rest... but i only found that out by going through confused.com first

fuck thats steep

i have 3 yrs no claim admitidaly but for a newish 540 BMW including business use its only £565 comprehensive with breakdown and legal cover included

i hate insuarance companies though. they know you HAVE to have insurance and the less well off you are the more they seem to stiff you.

I've just had a quote for £520 on an N-reg 323i, incl. business use, but I can't remember off the top of my head who it was with. I can look when I get home.

But I'm not a new driver. I suspect that I had I answered the question "how many years have you been driving?" with "none", I could have stuck an extra column on the front with a 1 in it...

I've always gone with Carole Nash (08002985511). Free breakdown cover (national & european, one ex had her bike recovered from Northern Spain no problem), consistently good service (docs always appear next day). Made a couple of claims on bike policies (one fire, one theft) no hassle. Just paid 330UKP for TPF&T on first car, but that's probably 'cos it's a 1.9 diesel skoda (they also give a discount on car insurance if you have no claims on bike policies). I know the bike policies allow you to ride any bike (third party cover only), not sure if this applies to cars.
