Car driver slaps cyclists arse.

jusali

Happy daze.....
Car Passenger not driver, but can't edit it!
Now me and the family decided yesterday to cycle down to the docks to meet a friend. The kids sit on those seats you get on the crossbar and when little one is too tired she goes in the grey seat that you put on the pannier rack.
Anyways on the way home I take little one in the grey seat and my wife takes the boy on the crossbar. It's a bit of a climb out of Bristol and it being my daily commute I kinda find myself ahead a lot of the time.
Now on this particular bit of road (St George cemetery road Bristol) it does get a bit narrow and fairly steep. So I wait at the top of the hill the usual array of Sunday afternnoon kiddy boombox citroen Axs etc go past and eventually my wife turns up. She's livid apparently this one car that had come a little close to me too, had come close to her and the next thing she'd been slapped on the arse
I'm sort of glad I was ahead because if I'd seen that I would have kicked off proper.
A red citroen AX with boombox but no plate details, a shame because that is common assault I believe.

Shame you didn't get a number, he'd have been nicked if you complained.

Personally I'd rather punch the cunt in the mouth.

Students......

unfortunately it was the done thing back in the day...... i never participated though (i hasten to add).

Beaufort Road?

Being a back road that runs parallel to the main Church Road, you do tend to get some cars using it as a rat run, speeding along it (-despite what looks like a vague attempt at a traffic calming measure towards the lower end of it).

And yeah, it is definitely narrow. I'm very conscious as a cyclist of how much closer cars are to me when they impatiently squeeze past at speed.

Yep that's the one. What particularly annoys me is the jokers who positively have to get past you, only to 'stop' right in front of you to let oncoming traffic through. It happens to me nearly every day.

Annoying, isn't it. It's is a perfect example of how, sadly, some drivers fail to accept that cyclists are as much a part of 'the traffic' as any other road user.

What you wanna do is carry a kryptonite mini-d tucked into your belt or back pocket. ALways be ready to launch it thru the rear window. If he stops and reverses just pull out the uzi :D

Serious over-reaction.

Either way, IME this is usually done by utter wankers who I find it very hard to have much sympathy for.

OK, I'm mainly speaking from a motorcyclists POV but any vehicle driving that close to my bike is far too close for comfort or safety IMO.

Jesus, it's only a slap on the arse! It's not like she was hurt or anything.

That's not the point. The point is that they drove close enough to touch her, which is scary in itself. I assume that you've not been subjected to a lot of sexual harrassment in your life - maybe if you had, you wouldn't make light of it.

It's also fucking scary when you're cycling and people do shit like that. I've had kids jumping off the edge of the pavement shouting "boo", stuff thrown at me out of cars - your instinct is to swerve and your heart jumps out of your skin. I always worry that one day this will happen and I will swerve straight into traffic or crash into something/one else. It might seem funny to those who are doing it but it really is horrible.

I had someone slap me hard on the arse outside the Ritzy and frankly, I was quite upset - and I'm pretty laid back normally. Ironically I was bent over undoing my bike lock at the time... :D

I think you should grow up personally. I'm beginning to associate you with borderline letchy comments on picture threads and defending the right of idiotic men to slap strangers on the arse. Which doesn't seem entirely healthy to me.

I've associated maggot with letchiness for quite some time now as it goes. Delighted he's outed himself now in such an obvious and public manner.

If Jack Straw's brother gets done for sexual assault for putting his hand on a fully clothed girl's stomach (which he did), then a slapped arse is a sexual assault too.

only a slap on the arse! bit of 'ows yer father, slap and tickle! what you moaning about you stupid slags, bet she was asking for it what with her riding a bike and all! It was only a joke, no means yes...

I didn't say it was ok, just that beating the guy up or trashing his car is a disproportionate response.

I take the point about the car being too close to the bike. I'm a cyclist too and that can be quite scary.

Oh please, save us the mealy mouthed backtracking. Have a think and the decency just to say that you were entirely wrong on this one - a dismissive 'Jesus, it's only a slap on the arse! It's not like she was hurt or anything.' isn't the same as suggesting that the response was disproportionate

Out of interest would you prefer that the guy ended up being prosecuted for sexual assault, or would that seem a bit over the top too? What would you recommend?

And I've associated you with adultery for quite a while now.

adultery!

:D:D

sorry maggot I must have missed mine and sarcastic food's nuptials!

priceless - get over it - move on - everyone else has.

Although you'll be acutely aware that your precious sarcastic food was of course a multi-'adultress' herself!

jesus wept.
:D
