Caprica : 58 years before the fall

Watched a bit of ep 2 today. Bit boring. Would be awesome if some of the one god was explained as something other than faithy religious pap. Might go some way to redeeming the end of BSG if some questions can be answered. I already like the idea that all the original cylons are one teenage girl who vaguely knows Adama.

They are pitching this as being open to people who haven't seen BSG, which really makes me think I'm gonna fuckin hate it.

No, dude. It can work that way, for sure but you get a whole extra blast from it if you've seen BSG.

I wasn't sure at first but after watching the pilot, I thought, yeah - lots of potential here.

Just a brief derail here - The Plan is supposed to be awful (if that hasn't already been discussed at length elsewheres)...

You mean it was supposed to a shit bit of the BSG script? The plan was never supposed to be 'nonsense'. The writers just thought it would be a good way to keep the audience hooked and just never thought it out. They admitted that much.

The plan was to kill all humans. They did that (for the most part) in the first episode. They didn't really have a 'plan' as such after that apart from to try and reproduce. This wasn't a secret though. It was always inferred that the cylons were toying with BSG and had their eyes on a bigger prize that was being executed in a highly organized plan. This all got a bit swept under the carpet when it became obvious that no actual 'plan' was written into the script.

There is a chance for caprica to redeem BGS on this and a few other plot points but it's going to be hard work.

I'm with AS on this. Rewatching BSG is now less enjoyable, knowing that there's
fuck all payoff for so many of the setups, and that it was all made up on the hoof.

In S2, a cylon says "We know more about your religion than you will ever know" or something. This goes NOWHERE

WHAT?!?!?!

*regrets reading thread*

have just finished Season3 and starting on S4....

I reckon they knew there were Cylons on Kobol.
So? In the TV show, it goes nowhere.

Incoherent, sloppy work and it's annoying cos it started so well.

EDIT: Shit, sorry CC :o I've spoilered to avoid further casualties

Well he whole 'all this has happened before and will again' suggests that. The idea being that 'god' keeps running the same experiment over and over with machine sentience struggling with humans
