Can't shut pc card slot!?!

I think you'd better go to bed now sheo, tbh. Less chance of even worse embarrassment that way. I say this as a friend btw. :)
 
Oh for crying out loud!

*gets out laptop*

you press the little black square bit in, it then pops back out a little. Upon pressing it again the card pops out.

Now, we have the card out, and the little nob sticking out too.

Push the nob back in so it's flush to the surface, now push the card in. Voila! Both the card and the little nob are now back in thier starting state!

*puts laptop away*

Anyway I did an experiment with a torch and a knife and I pushed in the metal bit at the back all the way inside the magical slot and that let me release the button again. You can try it but the author absolves hisself of any responsibleness.

NOT WITH MINE!

It wants a push almost all the way in, then a second slight push - without releasing it all the way back out - to engage the lock.....THEN push the card back in! :p

bobert - i think sometimes you think i'm a bit stoopid.

i have both knob and slot out - i can push the slot in, but the knob stays out.
If i try to push the knob in while the slot is in, the slot pops out, and the knob springs back out too.
If i try to push it in while the slot is out, the knob springs back out again.
If i try to hold them both in together, the knob springs back out.
if i push the knob in, and hold it in and then try and push the slot in, the slot won't go in, and anyway as soon as i let go of the knob it springs back out.

no combination of these actions, or double presses, or use of thumbnails, has made the slightest bit of difference. The knob will not stay in! :mad:
 
All you need is a knife. Or a spoon. But not a yoghurty spoon. Don't go putting Muller Light in there, whatever _he_ says. That'd be WELL STUPID.
 
Actually I don't even have a sticky outty slot thing at all, so I dunevenno what kind of alien computoid you've got do I? Smash it before it spreads!!!

The last one, but (ignoring the card altogether) with the vital softly, softly not-quite-double press.....until the nob is safely locked in place....and then - and only then - shoving the card back in!

Or nob?

If you don't mean the nob, the 'sticky outty slot' is either a pc card of some sort (whatever they might be), or (in my case) a replica card which just keeps dust out of the slot.




I shan't sleep again until we're all sorted friends - we can do this!!!
