A fair number of them settled in my neighbourhood. They were the first "white men" into this area. The stories of their settling is taught in our school.
Here's one -> The area was covered in trees and the scots hadn't seen trees of this size before. The Indians taught them how to make axes, helped clear the land and looked after them for the first couple of winters.
Around here, people still speak gaelic and courses are offered in town. More of my neighbours vacation in Scotland than the States.
